Never by Miram Larios

Never
The noise of the rain slamming against my window is all I can hear. The flashing lightning and the muted cartoons that my brother watches is the only light that shines in my room. There is suddenly a screech so awful that I’m forced to cover my ears with my pillow. Every single light in my house flickers on for a couple of seconds and then, it goes completely dark. My brother, Timmy, lets out a cry and I am about to too when the phone rings. I pick it up and answer. It’s my mom and she’s crying. She cries for us to get in my closet, lock it, and grab a bat. She tells me if anyone or anything tries to open it, swing at it and run. I asked her what was happening and she gets to tell me to protect my brother before the phone goes dead. I hang up and grab my brother. We head for the closet like my mother told me and I am ready to swing at anything. In the distant I hear my mother scream. My brother cries louder and I get up. I think about going downstairs and trying to save her but I remember her telling me to protect my brother. I it back down and reassure him that everything will be alright, even though I couldn’t confirm that. Unknowingly, I fell asleep and was awaken by my bedroom window breaking. I peak out through the tiny holes in my closet but see nothing really. I move closer to the hole and I am able to recognize the tree outside my window. Scccrrrr! A figure popped n front of the hole while making that horrible sound. I jump back and look for the bat. My closet door swings open and I am blinded by this white light. I try covering the top of my eye so that I could try to make out what was in front of me. I don’t see anything. I yelled for Timmy to see if he’s okay but he doesn’t answer. Instead he starts laughing. I hear some kind of sound, like a bug or an animals’ growl, and Timmy laughs harder. I figured he was fine so I sat down and calmly begin feeling around for a hat or something. Ahhh! Timmy shouts loud and I hear that creatures scream perches into my ear. I get up only to be blinded by a bright light. I yell out Timmy’s name and he replies with a scream. I follow it down my room close to what I remember a window? I hold my arms out so that I can feel what is in front of me and I am able to touch his hair. Out of nowhere something hits me in the stomach. My gut starts to instantly hurt and burn. I hold my stomach while I fall to the ground. Timmy screams again and the light turns off. I am able to see him with the night lights outside and I manage to see him standing on the edge of my window with something standing next to him. I yell his name out and he turns around. He has tears in his eyes and he hesitantly takes a step towards me. The figure next to him grabs him and shoves him out the window. I scream his name but I know I cannot do anything now. There was no way he could have survived that fall. The figure disappears as the bright light reappears. I close my eyes and start crawling towards the window. I want to jump and lye with my brother one last time. I get up with every inch of strength I have and run out the window. I close my eyes so that I won’t see my lifeless brother on the ground. A few seconds pass and I realize I’m not dead. I open my eyes and notice a green laser holding me mere inches from the ground. There is some sort of ship that is drawing the laser. The laser pulls me toward the ship and I am panicking on the inside but calm on the outside. It is dark and the green laser is the only thing illuminating my surroundings. Suddenly, the lights inside the ship turn on and I instantly see my brother lying on a giant plate. There is that creature standing right behind him. He looks up at me and grins with his sharp, ugly teeth. I look away. I noticed it walking towards a machine and I guess he pressed something because the floor beneath me disappears. Replacing the floor, a pool of hot lava appears. The laser drops me in it and I’m left in there for a couple of seconds. The next thing I knew that creature was picking me up with a fork and setting me next to my brother. I fell unconscious and never woke up.
