New Puppy
My dog passed away in December 2012. My dad really wanted to get another dog but I didn’t think he’d be able to handle it after just losing her. She was a Doberman pinscher and her name was Misty. She was black with brown spots. She was 9 years old when she passed. We always talked about getting a new dog but never made an effort to find one. So I decided to go and do some research. I found a breeder that had puppies and I told my dad about it and we decided to go check it out. The only reason we went is because I kept nagging my dad and it worked. We ended up taking a ride out there to look at the puppies. Once we got there, she greeted us and led us inside to the basement where the puppies were. She took them out and let them run around in a baby pool so they didn’t run off. It was so hard to pick because they all looked the same! There were 6 of them and they were all running around, happy as can be, wagging their tales. It was the cutest thing ever. I just wanted to take all them home! So then I struck my hand in toward them and I picked the first one that licked me and I just fell in love. The only problem is that my dad really wanted a black Doberman like our old one and these were more a rust/brown color. I kept nagging him. Plus, he really knew I wanted it and that I fell in love with it once I laid my eyes on it. My dad kept telling me “I’ll think about it” and he knows how I hate when he says that because it would take him 15 years to decide. The following day, we ended up going back and we ended up getting the dog. My dad was talking to the lady and was paying her while I was outside with the puppy trying to get her to walk. I was kind of hoping I’d be able to name her but my dad wanted her to keep the name Misty like our old dog. Once we brought her home, we introduced her to my other dog, Max. Max is a Yorkshire Terrier Chihuahua mix. He’s quite a wild dog if you ask me. He always thinks he runs the house so he had a little competition with the new dog. They just sniffed each other and max ran away because he was scared. We gave her a little bone and she went and occupied herself with it. She’d take the toys and then run. She’d always whack into the chairs and walls. I kind of thought it was like me too because I’m a klutz. She was a real pain taking care of her but I think it was all worth it. She’s the best dog I’ve ever had.
