Nancy Susano Short Story
Beauty
By Nancy Susano
If there's something this great nation needs, its plastic surgery. To look like a moving manikin with eyes. It's pretty surprising how many people in the United States do it. Even more impressive, how many procedures can be done whether it's for your chest, legs, face, etc. Why do people get plastic surgery you ask? To be quite frankly I don't know. Yes perhaps they want to look like the girls in the catalogs. I hate to burst your bubble, no even the girls in the catalogs look like the girls in the catalogs. They use the alternative Jesus created called photo shop. Mostly because that flawless face can't be achieved with starvation and a pack of cigarettes a day. Beauty is everything, right?
I don't know about you, but I consider going under the needle for beauty, is taking it a bit too far. We all want the sun kissed skin, with a body as nice as Kim Kardasians. But lets be realistic that's virtually impossible. When will people accept the fact that you will not look 22 all your life, mother nature never intended for it. In our society it's a quite frighting to imagine every body being superficial with a stretched out face, because after so many botox treatments, that's the outcome, eww I know. People go to the extreme to not be so self conscious about chest size, body fat, wrinkles, etc. It's obvious that the old method of toilet paper in your bra will not do the trick as it did in high school. But what self respect did you gain from that?
I don't know about you, but I don’t have thousands of dollars laying around to just waste on a treatment that I don't need, and that might backlash at me. We all are a little embarrassed or self conscious of a physical feature we have. Once said by J.Cole and Jesisie J, nobody's perfect, sounds kind of corny, but it's true. Soon enough we will age, and there is no method to stopping time, so just enjoy being young and be satisfied once you are old.
