Caitrin by Claire Tyznik

Caitrin

How I wish I could take your pain
Your anger and sorrow
To make you smile and laugh like you’re supposed to
To get you out of that room and let you play outside
To take out the fear in your brother’s eyes
To bring this family together again
To see you grow up and live out your life
Because six years just isn’t long enough
You ask if it’s time to start packing your suitcase for heaven
Your parents cannot bear to lie to you,
Their only daughter
They ask you to watch over them from above
As they say they’ll pray for you from below
And we’ll all pray for you
Caitrin
