A Survivor’s Story
This book was about a little boy named Richard and his big brake. The story starts with him telling how he did not have anything on Christmas and how he went out and hustled all day. He then goes home and he seen a big tree in the window and he hugs his mother and she gives him a special gift just for him. The book goes on to tell how he is poor and has no daddy. The kids on his block talk about him and he learns how to come back after they tell their jokes. Then it talks about when he used to shine shoes and a man kicked him in his mouth. Suddenly he starts telling about how he was in school, he wanted to give fifteen dollars to the teachers fund to impress Helen, and how everything he was going to do later on in life was going to be about Helen. He then graduated and went to southern university and got on the track team. He was also involved in a march and it segregated his school track team. .He went to the army were they sent him to comedy show and he won them. He moved to Chicago and opened up a nightclub .he met a women and got her pageant. He then starts to struggle and lose the club. He then goes on and becomes a wonderful comedian and activist among other things. This is a story of how you can come from nothing and become great, powerful and successful.
