I believe that this story is unbelievable. Because in the story we are not told anything about her not even her first name. It does not tell how she got those diamonds and pearls. Maybe she wasn’t happy with her marriage. So she cheated on her husband with a man that made her happy in a way that he couldn’t. She would go down to thy heater everyday without him and come back with more and more jewels everyday. “Her husband told her that she has the taste of a gypsy”. She would sometimes hang a necklace around her husband’s neck. He would often say to her “my dear when a woman can’t afford to buy real jewels, she ought to appear adorned with her beauty and grace alone”. She always thought the pearl necklaces and gems were not real but they weren’t. But after she got sick and died her husband went to see how much he could get for them. H would have never expected to get thousands of dollars for the jewels. The only thing I didn’t understand was that he found out that someone was sending the jewels to his wife, but he never asked who it was. That is why I say the story is unbelievable. I just can’t see how he lived his life not knowing who was giving her jewels. I believe I would have wanted to know how my wife or husband was getting expensive jewels if I wasn’t buying it for them.
