Living a Wonderful Life: Gavin's Story Of Strife

There was once a Kingdom whose Royalty suffered heartache from their predicament. Queen Juliana and King John, the benevolent rulers of Lycian, faced a terrible decision. The queen had been pregnant to the future heir expecting a healthy baby boy but when she entered labor, she bore twins. She cried because she knew that the discovery of her twins would result in their deaths due to ancient laws stating twins be killed because they were considered evil. The king tried to make her feel better "my Queen I'm sorry it's my entire fault we should have never had kids". This didn't help the Queen because she loves her husband a lot "there must be something we can do I don't want my babies to be killed". That's when her servant's husband came with a face that showed sadness "my wife had a stillborn baby". The Queen reacted right away "my King I have an idea I know its going to be hard for both but it's the only way we can save our babies." The king didn't understand her "my Queen your upset and I'm sorry you know very well that we can't save our kids". The queen disagreed she told them her plan which was that one of her babies should be her servants son. As the queen said this she was crying because deep down she did not want to give her son away but she trusted her servant with the little strength she had she climbed down the stairs holding something covered in a blanket. Since she had just gone into labor it took her about twenty minutes to go to the servants room since it was on the other side of the castle. She found Alice laying down crying holding her baby. "Alice I know what happened and I are really sorry but I need you to do me a favor even as I'm saying this it hurts my heart but I need you to take care of my son as if he were your own son. The reason for this is that I had twins and both are healthy and I don't want them to be murdered because of some law". Alice looked up at the queen "what if this plan goes wrong, what if the town finds out?" the queen thought about it for a while "no one can find out the doctor is late and the only one that knows is your husband and John, no one saw me come down with my child" as she said this she uncovered the baby, the King nor Thomas saw her grab one of her babies with her and everyone stood quiet in the room. Alice had spaced out for a while "ok my queen I'll do it, your one of the nicest people in this town and I will help you". As the queen handed her child to Alice she began crying before leaving the room she gave her son a goodbye kiss "bye my child for now you're in the hands of Alice a wonderful and caring mother". A week passed and the queen couldn't stop from buying small toys for Gavin, she knew that she couldn't keep on doing this because people will find out the town people were already asking her why she was buying Robert so many toys. She came to learn the hard way that Gavin was not her son that he now belonged to Alice. Alice one day went to the queen's room to talk to her " my Queen I don't know how to say this in any easier way but we have to move out from the castle and live outside in the town like all the farmers". The Queen was taken for surprise and for a while stood quiet "I know Alice, as you have seen I can't stay away from Gavin…but I'm not letting you go with nothing here take this bag of coins so you can start a good life". Alice hesitated for a while but she took the money because deep down she knew the queen wanted was good for her son and she had to be brave to be able to give up her child. Thomas and Alice packed right away and left the next day to a house twenty miles away from the castle. Alice didn't know how to take care of a baby that was suppose to be of high class she hated the idea that Gavin had to live as a farmers son in a poor world, his world. Gavin was now fifteen years old and very helpful to his parents. He will always wake up before the rooster and start on the farm tending the vegetables and feeding the animals they had. Alice became well known in town for her famous pies and Thomas for his fresh supplies of food. For a poor family they were doing well and they could not have done this good if it were not for Gavin. His work consisted of waking up in the morning going into the bathroom and taking a nice refreshing shower. After that he went and did whatever work needed to be done in the farm and tended the animals. He will also set the supplies him and his father will sell in town for that week. He will then go inside their two bedroom house. Which was made of wood, once inside he could smell his mother cooking breakfast " I love that smell of eggs, bacon and cheese after a long morning of work" that was always his greeting to his mother in the morning along with a kiss in the cheek. That certain day his mom looked different because she did not replied with her usual "Is that Gavin's nose coming into my kitchen and smelling what I'm cooking". Gavin kept to himself as he ate breakfast, "mom what's wrong your not yourself this morning you look different and please don't lie" Alice just looked at her son because she dreaded lying to him "sorry son, nothing is wrong I'm just tired didn't get enough sleep last night". "I sure hope all the food is not gone because my stomach is growling like a lion" everyone turned around to look at Thomas and Alice started laughing " God, if its not Gavin smelling my food its you asking for my cooking" Thomas started laughing "honey you know that's not a nice way to greet your husband". This became their usual routine for five more years. Robert had a better life compared to Gavin he had all the ladies going after him wanting to marry him. But Robert could care less about them all he really wanted was a beautiful woman with long blonde hair, green eyes, a nice smile that can hypnotize anyone, nicely shaped curves and a nice bosom. That's all her really wanted but she also had to be of high class and yet he has not come to meet that dream women. He was a rebel all he did was disobey his parents and stress them about all the trouble he got into he will let all of the horses inside the castle or throw away all of the food so the servants were all hurrying trying to keep up with their work. One day the king confronted Robert "son you are soon to become a king but your behavior is bad you need to be more responsible and start helping out with the duties of the castle". Once Robert heard that he was going to become a king soon he got all excited and he began to be more rebellious all he wanted was to become a king and have a beautiful wife. He has even tried to kill his father but he never got away with it because the servants will see him trying to be sneaky in poisoning the food so they will tell the queen and king about his plan. One day the queen went up to her husband "I don't know where we went wrong he has tried to kill as the servants will say he brings poisonous spiders into your room and poisons your food if it were not for them you could be dead by now" the king reassure her that nothing will happen he is smart "don't worry honey you know our servants are loyal and he is not smart enough to make a good plan in killing me". The Queen was not happy and after seventeen years she said his name "I guess I chose the wrong baby I bet Gavin is better than our son Robert how I miss Gavin I wish I had my son by my side but we couldn't keep him" what they didn't know is that Robert was listening to them as soon as he heard that he barged in the room "what are you saying? You had twins and you regret keeping me! How dare you say that about your son he is no longer here I bet he is dead because he has not showed his face here. He is a miserable bastard he is not welcome in this castle I will become king not him I don't care who was born first this castle is mine and I will run it. If I ever see that he is alive I will make sure he is dead he is a bastard with no parents and u chose me so deal with it. Now you better do as I say or I will tell everyone that you had twins "mother!". The queen and King stood quiet because Robert now knew their secret there was no way of keeping his mouth shut since he was selfish. Robert made his parents life miserable, he made them buy him weapons so he can be ready when ever he saw Gavin, and he also made them get him his own group of soldiers. What no one knew is that he was only training them so they can kill Gavin but he didn't directly tell them that. One day he saw this beautiful women that match his qualities in a female he tried to pursue her but she didn't pay attention. She was beautiful she glowed in the sunlight with her nice fitted dress, Robert fell for her because she had nice curved breast. Her name was Isabella the neighboring princess looking for a suitable king. There was one time he saw her in the river taking a swim. He spied on her as she took of her clothes taking her own precious time thinking no one was watching. He loved staring at how she took of her cloak slowly next removing her belt allowing her gown to become loose on her she then started to slowly remove her gown. Once she was completely naked she got into the river slowly washing her whole body. Robert kept staring fantasizing Isabella in his arms caressing her body with his hands. Robert didn't notice he stepped on a twig and Isabella turned but Robert ran away just in time. Meanwhile Gavin was going through hell his father came up to him one night "Gavin your mom wants to see you" Gavin was puzzled " what's wrong? Is mom ok?" his father didn't answer him he just repeated that his mom wanted to see him. He went to his mom and asked the same question he had asked two years ago " mom what's wrong and please this time don't lie to me your only son" this time his mom did not lie to him " Gavin I'm not going to lie to you this time the reason I asked to talk to you was because I love you and I know I have worried you for the past two years and I'm sorry if I'm going to worry you even more…the reason I look weak the reason I'm not myself is because I have heart problems…it has gotten hard for me to get up in the mornings and I can barely stand the heart pain I feel every morning…I'm sorry Gavin for not telling you before but I didn't want to worry" Gavin stood still for a while without speaking a word finally saying "don't worry mom I will do your chores I have watched you do everything and I have even learned how to cook…don't worry mom I'm here I will take care of you". Alice began crying because she loved Gavin so much and she was going to die soon and he didn't knew his real mother yet she didn't tell him at that time. Time passed and Gavin became more involved at home and in the farm he would go to town a lot selling his mom's special pies which sold fast he also sold vegetables and meat they got from the farm. His parents appreciated all the work he did for them that they will beg him to take a rest one day and just go into to town and explore around. It has been three years since he went into town just because he wanted to look around. One day he saw this beautiful woman buying eggs she was dressed so fancy yet she was in town buying food like anyone else that lived in town. Before going up to her he looked at her nice blonde hair shining in the sun and her beautiful green dress nicely shaped around her body and curves. He was then startled by the sweetest voice "are you staring at me or the blonde hair green eyed women that was just staring there ten minutes ago". Gavin blushed because he had been caught, being thought not to lie he said " I'm sorry but I was staring at you after living in this town for twenty years I have never seen a beautiful women like you. Its like the sun compliments you because you look like your shining like a star in the sky at night". the beautiful women blushed at his comment " wow never have I heard a male say that to me all they look at is my curves and just want me for their own pleasurable desires" Gavin couldn't stop from smiling because he was actually talking to her " before I forget my manners I'm Gavin what's your name and those males have not yet seen the beauty in you". "My name is Isabella, I'm sorry for running on you but I have to go my parents don't know that I'm doing the shopping they will kill me if they find out bye hopefully I see you again". Gavin went home and found his mom laying in her bed looking weaker than ever in a whisper she asked him to get closer " Gavin, son I'm dying I need to…" Gavin began crying "don't say that mom your strong you will live longer" his mom hated seeing him like this but she had no choice she was sick and was going to die soon she decided to tell him the truth. "Gavin its true I'm dying and you know it before you interrupt me again let me speak please…son, I been keeping a secret from you for twenty years and I need to tell you before I die…please don't hate me but I was helping a loyal friend that was always there for me and gave me a chance to love someone again…I'm not your real mom… your real mom is Queen Julianna from Lycian… you know the law about twins how they are suppose to be killed well you have a twin" Gavin stood quiet the whole time letting everything sink in " your telling me I'm not your son…but I love you mom no one can change me if that so call queen wanted me she could have found a way to keep me no one can make me hate you not even this secret I love you and always will mom". Alice began crying because she expected her son to run away n say that he hated her "I love you too Gavin and don't talk bad about Julianna she became a close friend and I did her a favor…she didn't want you to be killed…we both gave labor at the same time but my son died and she found out and also found a way to save you…she told me to take you in as my son she even gave my son his own private ceremony…she loved you so much that if we had not moved away her secret would have been known she gave me money to use for us but I never used it I saved it in case of an emergency…I bet she knew that that's why she got us this house with the farm and animals. She has send me letters saying that she misses you… your brother is tempting to kill your father so he can become king and I'm sure he will kill your mother once he gets what he wants…I need you to grant me one last wish…go find Julianna tell her who you are she will know she needs your help now you are strong and will be able to help her like you have done for me. Just be careful because even though you're a twin you resemble little features of your brother Robert but it does not mean that you will not get confused" Gavin was crying the whole time " don't worry mom I will grant you that wish I will help my mm…mom in revealing Robert If they care I will help don't worry about that…I Love You Mom" Alice didn't have much time left with her final breath she said "I love you too Gavin I love you and your father a lot I wouldn't ask for a better husband and son…I love you both…" Alice died with a load lifted from her body, Gavin began crying because he knew his mom hated keeping that big secret…now he began a new chapter to his life. He set everything up so he can leave and grabbed the money his mom left him but he saw it was a lot so he decided to leave half for his father because he will need it more. Before leaving he said bye to his father " I left half of the coins for you because you will need them this trip is going to be long but its what mom wanted I promise to be back I wont leave you alone you may still be fit and strong but you don't deserve to be alone I love you and I will come back I promise you that" Thomas was crying " son don't worry about me ill be fine so go ahead in your journey to reveal Robert help the King and Queen for they are good people and your parents May God Be with you Love you son". with that Gavin left on his journey to the castle. He faced a lot of obstacles, there were thieves trying to rob him but he was too strong for them as he went on his journey he kept on thinking how will his real parents react to his presence. He also thought about Isabella how she is most likely of high class and will never pay attention to him because he has lived a life of a farmer. He was confused because too many things happened in one day. After a week of walking he finally made it to Navarret. He saw a women being attacked by thieves so he went to help her, to his surprise it was Isabella the girl that has been in his mind the whole journey. He managed to run off the thieves, like his mother said he was confused by someone else "Robert? Your being such a gentlemen I thought you were a jerk that only cared about pleasing your own desires….wait….your not Robert…your…Gavin? Yes that's you…did you know you look like Robert the soon to be king but how?" Gavin for some reason trusted her and decided to tell her the truth of his life. Isabella was surprised with Gavin's story that for some reason she decided to help him reveal the truth about Robert. She trusted her soldiers because they were actually kind and hated some of the laws the old King made especially the twin law since two of her soldiers had twins so she knew she can trust them. Before going to the castle they went to talk to Isabella's soldiers just like she knew it they were willing to help Gavin. As he continued his journey Robert continued to train his soldiers to kill the "imposter". Robert had spotted them so he trained his soldiers more so they would be ready, soon after the king and queen got word of an imposter trying to take Robert's place as king. But the king and queen knew who it was "my King our child Gavin is here Alice must have died for him to already know the secret…I don't want him to die please help him" the king was wondering why Gavin was coming to the castle yet he send his loyal soldiers to help Gavin when things got hard for him to handle alone "don't worry I would send my trustful and loyal soldiers to help him. Gavin must have a good reason to be here after twenty years he is here near our presence". When he got at the castle he was immediately arrested no one would believe that Robert was trying to poison the King so he can die soon and Robert can become the King Of Lycian. They believed Robert " he is an imposter trying to take my throne as king send him away there cant passably be someone like me unless he's an imposter like I said". Once Gavin was out of the way Robert poison the King's drink this time only one servant saw what happened and couldn't find the King to warn him because of all the commotion at the castle. The King to the drink from the other servant and minutes later he fell ill he knew the reason to this Robert managed to poison him after five years of failure he has succeeded. He wanted to see Gavin before dying so he made sure his soldiers kept Gavin safe and they were told that if Robert Jumps in to stop and let them fight. Isabella's soldiers managed to free Gavin and went looking for Robert this time he send his soldiers to fight. Gavin was fighting Robert's soldiers with only a thin armor, a shield, his sword and the Isabella's soldiers. The fight seem easy but more soldiers came from different places and Gavin was outnumbered. All Robert did was stand aside and watch his soldiers defeat Gavin but to his surprise the King's soldiers jumped in to help Gavin. Robert got furious and got in the fight, as soon as he did that the soldiers stopped they didn't want to kill the wrong person, they were both wearing armor so it was hard to say who was who. The battle was now against Robert and Gavin. Gavin was tiring after battling the soldiers, he had a cut in his upper arm but he was not about to give up the fight. He managed to cut Robert twice on the side and that's all he needed to show Robert that he was not giving up that he was fighting till the end. Gavin screamed "I lost my mother the women that cared for me and I'm not about to lose my real parents to you! I will kill you and show this town that all you cared was about being a KING!" as he said his last word Gavin raced to Robert fighting hard slashing at Robert trying to brake the armor lose. Gavin was stronger he was a hard worker his whole life and this helped him out while Robert only trained his soldiers and not himself he was good but not good enough for Gavin's moves. Gavin dodged the sword and from behind stabbed Robert in the back. Robert fell with a gasp, everyone stood in silence watching Robert Fall. Robert never made it the sword hit his lung from the back. Gavin couldn't believe he one and that's when the servant came running out "come quickly the king is dying he wants to see you, HURRY!". Gavin and Isabella ran to see the king "my son, Gavin, I finally get to see the man you have become I thought that you came here for revenge for giving you away but you actually came here to help me and your mother…Robert turned out to be rebellious spoiled from high class yet you became a hard worker with a heart…I got to see you before I died we love you Gavin we never wanted to give you away but we had to we didn't want the soldiers to kill you now Robert is dead so you're a free man your no longer tied to that law…your mom is beautiful women always caring for you without showing herself to you… she went through hell not having you by her side…your our blood Gavin now you're the King take care of your mom and go get Thomas he will no longer live a life of a farmer he deserves to live a good life for taking care of my son and turning you into a good man". Gavin was actually crying " I not only lose my mom the women that took care of me but I also lose my real father…I have lived a wonderful life yet I needed obstacles and pain and I felt them when I lost my mom now that pain is coming back when I finally get to meet you my father my blood, and you have been poison never will I get to know you as much as I wanted yet I feel this love for you I didn't expect to feel…don't worry I will take care of my mom and this castle there wont be anymore people like Robert this castle is free from the real evil everyone get to live a life without trouble" "thank you son I love you and I love you too my Queen Julianna". Julianna was there the whole time crying for her husband at the same time because she finally got to see her son " I love you too my king and you too Gavin its true I didn't want to give you away but it was the only way to save you we are sorry please forg…" Gavin caught her off "mm…mom don't ask for forgiveness for you have never intended to hurt me you wanted me all along and Alice my second mom helped you out…you know I miss her but she told me the truth and for that I cant hate you nor my father" as Gavin said that the King drew his last words "my son you will be a good king…" and closed his eyes the room was full of tears. Gavin was taken back to his small house to pick up his father and his mothers body as instructed by the Queen, his mother. His father John and his mother Alice received a royal burial. Soon after that Gavin and Thomas got to fixing everything Robert messed up. Isabella also helped out she had fallen Gavin since the first day and at that time she knew she couldn't marry him for her parents would not have allowed that. Now she finds out he was of high class all along, yet to her he is the sweet farmer she met the day in town. One year later Gavin and Isabella get marry having twins, the story of his life would have repeated but as soon as Gavin became king he changed the ancient law and after his heroic battle he had no trouble making that change. His mother and father Thomas live happy with them in the castle along with every servant living in the castle.
