This tale, The Reeve's Tale, explains that you die how you live. In the Reeve's Tale, Reeve tells us the story of how the Miller and the two scholars are into it with each other. All because the Miller is a thief of the town. And the two scholars Alan and John seeks revenge on him. Lets peruse and analyze more on how the story became to be.
In this story my group read was a tale of how the Miller was a treacherous thief. He stolen everything especially grain and takes it back to his wife so that she would use it for something. Im guessing he was poor and needed extra food but it didn't say. He had a wife, a gorgeous daughter, Mayne that many men wanted too marry, and a baby in a cradle. This is the desription of him. Now lets describe the two scholars.
Now the two scholars are the revengers. Their names are Alan and John. Must be two close friends. They seen what the Miller was doing and they didn't like it at all. The Miller stealing grain from them, oh no that wasn't right. Which is why they seek revenge. They asked for permission to go to the Miller and they got the okay and so they went along to find the Miller. They said with them being around the Miller would never be able to steal again.
To the Climax of the story, one of the scholars falls in love with the daughter Mayne who he screwed. But the town's Parson wanted her instead. The Miller lets loose of the scholars horse so when they run after it he can go steal. Which arouse more revenge on the scholars hands. So they steal the baby and kind of hide it. When the mama finally finds it she lays in a different bed which was the other scholars bed and they also screwed together. Next the scholar trys to get in the bed with the other scholar but ends up in the bed with the Miller, and he begans to speak to him about how he screwed the Miller's daughter. The Miller hears it and grabs the scholar. The wife awakes not knowing whats goin on because the Miller fell on her and awakened her. She saw violence and tried to hit the scholar but ended up hitting her husband and he died.
So as the Reeve said the moral of the story is you die how you live. What goes around comes around. Which is why the Miller was a thief and fooler and he died by thiefs and foolers.
