Hole In My Life Important Essay

The important part of the book to me is when Tim Scanlon came to see Jack. Tim made Jack develop a new look at life. Tim made himself sound so educated that Jack actually begin to look up to him. Tim told Jack encouraging things like read more science because it gets deeper than you will ever know. He told Jack that Literature was good, but literature is based off genetics, not on environment. Tim made Jack actually wished he had gone to college. It seemed to Jack that Tim had learned a numerous of things by going to college.

Jack later brought to Tim’s attention that he needed money. Tim said that he had just the right idea. Tim told Jack that they should sell weed and make money. He said that they would drive up to Tallahassee and get some weed from the guys in the lab there. Jack was immediately down for it. Jack figured Tim knew what he was doing and he would never let him down. He for some reason or another trusted Tim and it was like everything Tim said immediately caught his attention. Jack trusted Tim so much that he gave him three hundred dollars for the score. After Jack got the money they were finally on their way to Tallahassee.

When Jack and Tim reached Tallahassee, Jack dropped Tim off at the lab. Jack went back to the motel and waited. Four hours later Jack was still waiting for Tim to show back up, but he never did. Tim had ripped Jack off and was not returning. Jack didn’t know what to do, so he decided to follow his original plan. He got in hi car and drove to the keys. There he went to see a lot of thing that were important, such as Hemingway’s House. That happened to be something very interesting to Jack.

As Days went by Jack still wondered what happened to Tim, so he developed the urge to call his house. When Jack called Tim’s house Tim told him that he had a sample of the weed and it sent him into a total genetic high. He said he couldn’t tell where he was. Jack asked him what happened to the weed and Tim said that the cops happened to be potheads so all they did was stash the weed, but the bad thing was that he lost Jack’s money. Tim promised that he would pay the money back when he begin working. Jack didn’t know what to think. His friend had betrayed him.
