Janie fully acquires her own voice and shapes her own life by making other people respect her; when Janie tells pheoby her story in flashback it undermines her ability to tell directly in her own voice.
Janie when to the fullest extent to acquire her own voice when she spoke up against Jody. when she did spoke up she had gotten embarrassed. after Jody died Janie met tea cake when she left with him to the muck she had gotten her own voice for the first time. a voice is a key point to shape your own life. for Janie both are the same without one your life wouldn't be the way you want it to be. when Janie tells pheoby her story in flashback it undermines her ability to tell her directly in her own voice.
