2nd Period
From generations to generations we have been taught ways to live our life, but when we break those traditions we get treated differently in our communities. Like in the book The Eyes Are Watching God the character Janie got treated differently after her Nanny died. When Janie was living with her grandmother raised her to be respectful, grateful and helpful and that’s how her community viewed her. But when her Nanny passed she started to live her own life. Like when Janie’s second husband Joe Starks died in 9 months later she started falling for another man named Tea Cake. People thought she should wait longer before getting in another relationship. People also thought she was happy that Joe died because of the way she was behaving. So in her community the town’s people would talk about her, but Janie didn’t care what the people thought of her; she was living her life. My grandmother was raised to do your homework before watching television, but I do the opposite I watch television and listen to music while doing my homework. My grandmother point of view is that im not learning anything. She thinks her way is better. But just because my way is differently doesn’t mean it’s the wrong way.
