BIG BAND JAZZ
Throughout the music project I have learned a lot of things about Big Band Jazz. This music has been around ever the 90’s of the 1800’s, but soon became popular in the 1920’s. Through the history of jazz there have been many types of jazz ranging from cool to ragtime jazz. Big band jazz is a unique type of jazz that consist of nothing but, music with instruments. These bands are supposed to have saxophones, trombones, trumpets, and a rhythm section. I learned that a rhythm section is a section apart of the band that consists of drums, keyboard, guitar, and bass guitar. Count Basie and Duke Ellington were some of the greatest band leaders of their time. They both had bands that contributed to the popularity of big band jazz. This type of jazz is supposed to be nothing but music and Basie decided to add a mixture of blues and classical sing to his music. Before I did this project I thought jazz was very boring. When I learned about the different jazz music there was my whole prospective change about it

I remember a time when I found out that my aunt was on drugs because you would never think that she would ever be on drugs because she was the type that would always get some one out of trouble when you know you did something wrong but when I found out that she was strung out I was really upset why I was so upset because she was my favorite aunt and I would have never think that she would be a crack head but at first I did not believe it because my cousin told me and she did not like my aunt so I thought she was lying but then my mother finally told me and when she told me she was going to a rehabilitation center, 4 month went by and she came out and I had never asked her where she had been I had just acted like nothing happened. But she came out like it was nothing wrong but I knew she had just did a blow because I seen some white stuff around her mouth but I still didn’t say nothing I asked was she going to take me to buy some cloth she said later and I told her I was going to call her but when I called her she did dent answer then about 2 hours later I asked my mother if she seen her she said no then my father did that she was in jail for stilling crack.

Does a single parent household work better than a double or both parent household? My opinion is yes and no. The reasons why say yes because if you have been raised only with one parent then you will know how to raise your child or children with just being a single parent. You will also know how to raise your with another person living with you being a parent. You will have the advantage to bond with your child such as getting to know them more and having a lot of time to spend with them because it is you and the child or your kids. You can help you child with their problems and you and your child or children can be best friends and just have each other. The other reason why I said no is because you might be searching for love and has little time for child or children. I think one of the most important thing that happen in this book was when he went to school. He went to two different school because he had moved. He wanted to go back to the first school he went to because he had so many friends that go there. He did not know how to speak spanish like that so that is another reason why I think he went back to his old school. He is good. If that was me, I would have stayed with my parents and go to the new school, instead of living with some other family and going back to my old school even though all the people i know go to my old school. At least he went to back to his old school and stayed there for a while. He was bogus for how he acted towards the other family. I think this was kind of an important part in the book.

HE was in jail listening to everybody tell their story about how they got caught. He was comparing listening to the stories was just like being in Boys Scout and sitting by a campfire telling ghost stories. While listening to some his inmate’s stories he started to tell how he was caught.
After coming from Cape May to New Jersey Coast. All he kept thinking that he was going to get caught. He said I could tell you the fear of waiting to get caught was worse than getting caught. Since they hadn’t got In touched with Rik they didn’t have blank space reserved for them. Hamilton thought that they would just cruise around until they found something that looked available to them. They made it all the way to Queens, Hamilton called Rik and made the arrangements. He was already at the motel in the room ready to start moving the hash. He had a car set up with two hundred and fifty pound sale. Next they waited for a kat name Jerome who would meet them at the gas station where they will follow him to his place. They was going to wait at Jerome’s place until the money arrives. Jerome’s connection hadn’t arrived. On the way back to New York they got caught in a thunderstorm. Then all of a sudden someone said somebody is following us, which made him swerve off the road. Next they all went back to the Chelsea Hotel were they stayed until bossiness started booming. They all worked together for the next few weeks of keeping all the records. Then everything hit rock bottom. Rik had called while Hamilton and Jack was in the room he said that he had another delivery to request one that would empty the boat. But to conclude the F.B.I. came in and the Treasury agents. Everything went bad. Jack had heard all the commotion and escape out the front door . He made his way back to Davy’s place where he remains.

I completely disagree with this quote. When a person is sent off to war, there is no guarantee that they'll be coming back. Some people, who are pro-life, are against killing people. Obviously, this can cause this person to either spend time in jail, or die on the battlefield because they chose to not kill someone. When there is a war, there're many people that get sent off without ever wanting to participate, wanting to stay with their families and/or just live the life that they're living without any more drama.

Rhythm and Blues Kenya Lockett
While studying Rhythm and Blues I learned a lot about black music that I never knew. First I learned who created Rhythm and Blues and what year; Jerry Wexler created Rhythm and Blues in 1947. Then I learned what different music genres make up Rhythm and Blues, which are jazz, gospel, and blues. Music created and performed by African American artists. I also learned that R&B is the abbreviation for Rhythm and blues, which is pretty self explanatory. I learned why Rhythm and Blues was initially created, which was to identify the rocking style of music that combined the twelve bar blues format and boogie- woogie with a back beat. The time period in which Rhythm and Blues was created was the 1940s, a period when blacks were rising. Blacks were doing great things, creating phenomenal music, showing artistic skills, owning towns and more. I also learned about different types of R&B, there are contemporary R&B, soul, and many more. My favorite thing about R&B is its great artist. There are legends such as: Diana Ross, John Lee Hooker, Marvin Gaye, Temptation, Michael Jackson Whitney Houston and more. The new R&B artist would include music sensations such as: Beyonce, John Legend, R Kelly, Ciara, Chris Brown and many more. I really learned a lot about the music my people created. There were many phenomenal artists with over the top hits.

The things that i learned from Rock N Roll are alot. First i learned that African Americans started off with Rock first. The music is a mixed with blues tunes and R and B. The most famous black who made rock famous was Little Richard. Then later on in the years the whites came and made rock there music. So Elvis Preseley became known as the king of Rock N Roll . The music stated in small clubs and on the radio. Most parents didn't like there kids to listen to the music because of the lyrics. The end of world War 2 came and rock became more popular. The most famous song of Rock N Roll music is " I LOVE ROCK N ROLL " and will always be known.

the music that i was given to research was house music . i learned alot about house music i really didn't think that house could be so interesting . the first thing i learned was that house was a direct decendent of disco music. the most influencial people were DJ Ron Hardy, DJ Frankie Knuckles and DJ Larry Levan. two of these DJ's were gay and they freely expressed it . ron hardy created the environment for house music while frankie knuckles laided the foundation for it to become successful. larry levan was also influencial in this process he would play house, disco ,and garage which were hot back in the day.there were also two essential clubs that played house music they were Chicago's Warehouse and New York's Paradise Garage. this were Dj hardy and knuckles got their start. Dj Larry Levan got his start in a club that would put the Dj in the center of attention . house became so successful because it started to play in a wider community and got more attention .there were also many other amuter DJ's that were coming on to the scence. they would ask ron to test out their music on their crowds to see if they would like it. house music is electrical and many people enjoy it that's why it's going to become universal.
the music that i was given to research was house music . i learned alot about house music i really didn't think that house could be so interesting . the first thing i learned was that house was a direct decendent of disco music. the most influencial people were DJ Ron Hardy, DJ Frankie Knuckles and DJ Larry Levan. two of these DJ's were gay and they freely expressed it . ron hardy created the environment for house music while frankie knuckles laided the foundation for it to become successful. larry levan was also influencial in this process he would play house, disco ,and garage which were hot back in the day.there were also two essential clubs that played house music they were Chicago's Warehouse and New York's Paradise Garage. this were Dj hardy and knuckles got their start. Dj Larry Levan got his start in a club that would put the Dj in the center of attention . house became so successful because it started to play in a wider community and got more attention .there were also many other amuter DJ's that were coming on to the scence. they would ask ron to test out their music on their crowds to see if they would like it. house music is electrical and many people enjoy it that's why it's going to become universal.

Cindy lived in an apartment with her mom and her mom got a boyfriend named raffie and Cindy doesn’t like her boyfriend. She thinks he is a drug addict. She goes to this school and she got two friends named Jamie and amber Lynn, and they is close friends. Cindy saw this boy named bobby and she liked him and she asked Jamie and amber Lynn who is that boy, and Jamie told her about him and Jamie told her he was her x-boyfriend and she used to beat on her, and Cindy didn’t care she still liked him.
He saw her and spoke to her first they were outside in his Nissan after school was over with. He asked her, her name and he asked her do due want a ride home at first she said no then he kept on talking to her and she got in the car and they went out for ice cream and a Chinese restaurant and took her home. She told Jamie and them and they got upset and tried to tell her what to do, and she got mad and confronted them. She told them that she don’t care she is still going to see him; Jamie got mad talking about how she’s going to see somebody that her best friend went with. Amber Lynn said we is just trying to look out for you, then Cindy said I got this I don’t need nobody looking out for me I can look out for myself. I am so ready to graduate and be over and done with this little circus that most people would like to call "high school". I am getting everything in place so that nothing will be in my way for my graduation and nothing will stand in my way of going to college in August. As long as I can keep on track and not fall off, I'm great. The only thing that is keeping me from having a perfect graduation is the fact that I have two tardies in Ms. Virene's class, and I've had perfect attendance ever since I have been in high school. What I'm going to do about that is to make up the time that I was tardy with Ms. Virene, so that I could have perfect attendance 4 years in a row. That's about it.
As far as prom goes, I could really care less about it. Parties, honestly, aren't my scene. I know prom is more of a celebration than a flat-out party, but my version of a celebration is graduation. I can care less about spending a huge amount of money on one night, because graduation shows that I have succeeded and that's enough for me. I'm just really happy to know that I'll be graduating soon.

This was a really good book. Young people these days can really relate to the main character Cindy. Cindy had problems at home with her mom because her mom didn’t pay any attention to her because she always spent all o her free time with her boyfriend Raffie Whitaker. When Cindy would try to spend time with her mom she would just blow her off and tell her that she already made plans with her drug dealing boyfriend Raffie. When Cindy didn’t find love at home she went to her friend ex-boyfriend Bobby Wallace and he was nothing but trouble. Cindy friend Darcy Wills who used to go with Bobby Wallace tried to warn Cindy that Bobby was no good and he used to hit her and smoke weed but Cindy didn’t listen because all she wanted was somebody to love her like he did. So she didn’t care what everybody else was saying . So she also turned to her neighbor Ms. Rose Davis as a mother figure so everytime she needed advice . When Cindy was out with bobby at a Chinese takeout she noticed a smoke gray car that her mom boyfriend drives and bobby went out to talk to who ever that was and when he came back into the restaurant Cindy asked was that somebody name Raffie Whitaker in that car and he said that was his uncle and then he just started snapping on her. When they left there he took her to some row houses where they were shooting up and Cindy didn’t like that at all. At the end of the book Cindy mother finally realize that Raffie was a drug dealer.

Well I do agree with Mrs. Davis when she says ‘a mother ought not’ to leave her child alone for so long at home for a weekend because anything can happen at anytime of the day, and no matter what the parents say they are still responsible for what happens. Someone To Love Me
This story was a very good story and it reminded me a lot of the kinda stuff that I would not want to have to go through. My heart goes out to Cindy and her mother. This story also reminds me of how I have a cousin that has and stills does drugs and wasn’t able to take care of any of her kids and her mother took custody of all her kids one by one. I to was in a abusive relationship and dealt with all of the grabbing, cursing, and controlling stuff that Cindy went through with Bobby. I said this because I was blind and didn’t listen to what people were trying to tell me and the advice that people were trying to give me. I’m glad that Cindy finally saw the light like I did and as far as her mother, I don’t know what to say. Cindy went through a lot of hard things that a child shouldn’t go through and took it exactly how a child desperately in need would have. Cindy’s mother could have been a good mother if she would not have let Raffie blind her and fool her into putting him before her one and only child. I’m glad that Raffie was caught up and put in jail where he belonged and Bobby finally got the help that he needed. The book did however turn out to be a little different than I was thinking but overall was good and I liked it and wouldn’t mind reading it for a second time.

My number 1 reason why I would not have got into the car with him because he is a stranger to her and they don’t even know each other that good and Cindy was really nervous because she know who he was. He was the boy who was doing drugs and he went with Jamee Wills last year and he beat her. That’s why she moved on to go with other people. But when bobby said something that made Cindy get in the car with him and then, they talked about their selves to each other. They was introducing each other. But after that she felt kind of comfortable with him now. But they talked and talked about each other. So now they are going steady like they are going out together. This essay is about a girl that I liked along time ago. It was like about last year when I was trying to impress a girl that I liked. At first, I had to observe her to see if she was the kind of girl that I am looking for. I talked to her a lot to see if she was smart and can hold a good conversation without acting dumb or acting like she don’t have any sense. She was a cool person and was very smart but do not use it a lot. I thought about if I can see her being my girlfriend in a long term or short-term relationship. The things I done to impress her was I have wrote her a note telling her how I feel about her but not to deeply and it also came with a poem. I also was talking to her in class about nice things, making her laugh, and just being her friend trying to be her boyfriend. She liked all the things I have done for her as well. The result was that she did not like me and we are just friends now. However, I was ok with it because she does not come to school or when she does come to school she ditches class and I did not like that. I thought this unit was great, it was a interesting story, and was very easy to read. The story was not boring, it kept you wanting more. I liked the book because it was a true story and some people could relate to it. The work sheets were all easy, if you read the book. I really liked the book, or atleast what I completed of it before we took the final exam over the book. I believe that the worksheets were fair and, to be completely honest, not difficult. Considering the fact that even the questions were of small number was also a plus. As far as this class goes, I believe that it's going really well. I think we'll be able to achieve what we need to achieve before it's time for us to graduate and be done with it all. Right now, I really do like the somewhat new system that Winfrey's classes go by (the hierarchy). Right now, there's nothing that I dislike, but if something comes up, I'll definitely be sure to edit this post.

This entire book is important because, Jack Gantos who was a type of person who wanted money to take care of himself, he saw that working for his father wasn’t working, so when Rik came to him about some money, Jack didn’t turn it down, he knew that if he continue to work for his father he would not make no money. He knew that it was a bad idea, but he still did it. People go through this everyday, we have to make a lot of decisions good or bad, and we still have to make them. When he got to New York , he knew what he was doing was bad, but he was still thinking about that money, but Jack wasn’t thinking about any money when he was getting arrested. If that’s the case, money isn’t always the issue.

IMPORTANT ESSAY
When I first started reading hole in my life of course I thought it was going 2 be boring like any other book. I turned out alright. I guess because they was talking about PIFF.Jack life was now over he had been caught and now he was going to jail. This book in my opinion is one of the best novels that I read. Jack wanted to become a great writer, but he didn’t know where to begin. Until this hole came into his life, as he was in jail he began to write about his life and it made a great book. It’s like it had to take him to miss up for him to come up with the best story. When Gantos mentions the class assembly, I had wanted to stop reading at this point, but I kept reading in order to see what the assembly would be about. There are just some certain things the reader would want to know if they read this book, and for me it was what happened at the assembly. Jack later brought to Tim’s attention that he needed money. Tim said that he had just the right idea. Tim told Jack that they should sell weed and make money. He said that they would drive up to Tallahassee and get some weed from the guys in the lab there. Jack was immediately down for it. Jack figured Tim knew what he was doing and he would never let him down. Gantos and his class take their seats as the assembly starts. Jack regrets what he has done but now it’s too late. He is already in jail. He is doing time for a drug distribution and trafficking. He knows that this will change his life. He is incarcerated with killers and it kills him to be associated with those types of people.

The book Hole In My Life was okay, but it could have been better. The part I like the most was we he got put out because he was getting drunk and throwing up all over the place. Jack Gantos life story has been very interesting, it has been an adventure. He could really go back and look at all the mistakes he’s made, but I guess without those mistakes he wouldn’t be who he is today. I believe he could have taken the easy way out and went to college when he had a chance, instead of waiting to get more money for a different school. I think at some point in his life, like while in prison he regretted not going to the University of Florida. You can tell by reading this book that he had the drive, and the determination of one day becoming a writer, he just went about it the wrong way. It all started in high school, hanging with the wrong crowd. Someone walked up to him and asked if he wanted to go to a weed party. Jack was unsure about going, but he accepted any how, even with all his doubts. He went, smoked a little and didn’t really enjoy himself. But something must have been good that night, because after that it was like he was addicted to the stuff. The hash had him constantly being paranoid; this should have turned him off. Jack just wanted adventure and I guess he had to be high to get it. Every time someone offered him a descent proposal, he jumped for it. Like Tim Scanlon, he offered Jack a job he couldn’t refuse. He was thinking it was going to be some easy money, but he was wrong. He was stranded on a boat with a complete stranger, the guy was crazy, and didn’t care that much for Jack. I know while he was sailing he was in fear of his life; Hamilton was stuck in the war. I knew at some point he was bound to snap, that’s why the trip didn’t end to well. When they got to New York they both ran into a lot of problems. They ran into navy territory, no where to tie up the boat, they were just paranoid all the time. They left the boat for a minute and later found out that someone had been on it. This left them shells shocked and very nervous. Then at the hotel the FBI showed and arrested Hamilton and the others, Jack saw and left undetected. He went back to Davy’s, in Florida

Roderick:The part of the book that I am going to talk about is when Jack finally decided to turn himself in. at this point in Jacks life he couldn’t believe that he manages to make an escape, but ended up right back where he had started. Jack was so scared he didn’t know what was going to happen to him. And as he met with his lawyer Newman he knew that it was serious. Mr. Tepper one of the FBI had him right where he wanted him. He showed him all of the pictures that he had on him and there wasn’t anything that he could say about it.Jack life was now over he had been caught and now he was going to jail. And he became that writer that he wanted to be and now he is making money from it. So over the entire book was great in funny to me at the same time.

I wanted you to know that I feel like all of this dram that has been caused, that is causing you all of this pain of injury that you are suffering through is all because of me. I should have never had hut you because of all the teasing you were doing toward me, everyone else is doing it and I don’t say nothing at all. But you have to attment that you went a little to far all that teasing that you and all of your friends did is really hurts me and I am just tired of it. I never had any attention’s for things to go this far for someone to get hurt in the process, especially, someone who I know would be lying in a hospital bed because of a joke that really wasn’t that much of serious. My favorite summer moment is when me and my cousin Laka which every body know as Jean. This was on a sunny day I mean this day was so hot I could not take that heat shied it was just that dand gone hot. And I was thinking that I am already black as that thing. But let me get back to my story. It was early in the morning. I woke up brushed my teeth was hen my you know what now for real I washed my but, and called my other cousin her name is Kianna to see what she was doing on that day so she told me that she was thinking about going to the beach but she really don’t know, I told her that I was going to call her back so I called my cousin Laka and I asked her did she wont to go to the moves or go to the beach so she told me that she don’t know so I said that this boy that she liked was coming with my boy friend to the beach so that girl hurried up and sail yeah she was coming I mean that girl wisent playing no games after I sold her that. She said that she was going it call me back so we hung up I put on my stuff and started walking to her house and this girl that was over that I cant stand I mean I do not like that girl. He said a 5010b is a youth sentence. It means you can do anywhere from sixty days to six years .He said he want to go to school, with a writing program but he don't have any writing. He find a school in New York graham junior college. It was a two-year school with a focus on communication arts. He sent away for an application he was accepted. December 18th he was stunned. Nearly fifteen mouth after his first night at west street he would be released. He have a place an everything. And a job selling christmas trees until he could find a steady job after the holiay casey called in the information to the parloe board, his release was approved and he walked . I was thinking that is was go to be in jail for the rest of his life. I wouldn’t never get out. He was about to get six years. I’m happy he got out. It all started when I was in my mother room one morning. My mother was on the phone. Then all of a sudden I heard her say baby you gone have to call her back because I am on the phone. Then I was like momma who was that on the phone because I knew it was for me. She was like I don’t know because I didn’t ask who it was. Then I was like did he kind a sound like a girl. Then she was like no but his voice was kind a hoarse. Then I was like oh that was this boy named D’wayne. Now let me remind you that that was my ex boy friend. She was like oh well you gone have to call him back because I am on the on the phone. Then I was like I aint gone call him back because he a lame .Then she was like oh well then that’s that. I was gone call him back but I never got a chance to call any way. But my best friend called her name is Monique. We was talking for a little while. Then she was like nina guess what. Me and my class just got done reading a book called ‘’ A MATTER OF TRUST’. That book made me think about a lot of things in my life like friend ship and trust. This book was very good in many ways .I feel that a friend is someone you can trust in many ways ,my friend who I knew for 9 years I feel that he should be able to come to me at any times for any problems but if he cant he can go to a parent or something ,this book made me feel like a friend is not good in some ways ,one you probably cant trust them .the best part of this book is when the friends got back together .The most important thing about this books is trust .People everyday need to trust each other ,well I guess you cant trust people because people will do something bad to you .When we first got this book I thought it would be a bunch of bull crap, but you really reading it you will find out the real meaning of a friendship. The one thing I hate is when a friend tries to take your girl or your man. Darcy in the book called a matter of trust made me feel how she felt by putting me in her position and visualizing what she has been through. This book was good because its an inspiration to all., i feel that the book has a good name because it express everything that goes on in the book and real life ,the most important thing in this book is the way Darcy handles her Matter Of Trust.

It tells the story of a girl named Darcy who is a sophomore. She attends a school named Bluford. It also tells us what kinds of positive and negative things that she experienced in her life. Her best friend Brisana is very jealous of Darcy’s new friend so she tries to make Darcy’s life a living hell by telling her lies. Brisana tells Darcy that Hakeem (Darcy’s boyfriend) is her boyfriend. She has negative thoughts about Hakeem being attracted to other females and not her. But the drama doesn’t stops there. Darcy’s father ran out on her family 5 years ago and he retuned. He begs the family for forgiveness. Jamee (Darcy’s little sister) acts as if he never left. But Darcy and her mother aren’t sure if they really want to but their lives back in his hands. At the end the whole story was based on trust. Darcy learned to trust her boyfriend. In this book A Matter of Trust that I’m reading, is about a young girl name Darcy who is struggling with a lot of problems in her life. She has a sister name Jamee, her boyfriend name is Hakeem, Her so called friend name Brisanna who is trying to make Darcy jealous and, show her how it feels to be betrayed by trying to flirt and be with Darcy’s boyfriend. All because of Darcy is being friends with some so called lames (Tarah, Cooper) that Brisanna and Darcy used to always make fun of all the time, but now Darcy is friends with them. Darcy’s dad left them 5 years ago, now he trying to make it up to them. Darcy is trying not to get close to her father but, Jamee is spending time and hanging out with them trying to build their relationship again.
Darcy and Jamee take care of their grandma after school, which is very sick after having a stroke while their mother goes to work. Her boyfriend Hakeem has a stuttering problem when he gets nervous. And kids at school make fun of him specially, this boy name Roylin he always be messing with him embarrassing him for no reason. And Darcy is taking up for him when people mess with him.
In this book A Matter of Trust that I’m reading, is about a young girl name Darcy who is struggling with a lot of problems in her life. She has a sister name Jamee, her boyfriend name is Hakeem, Her so called friend name Brisanna who is trying to make Darcy jealous and, show her how it feels to be betrayed by trying to flirt and be with Darcy’s boyfriend. All because of Darcy is being friends with some so called lames (Tarah, Cooper) that Brisanna and Darcy used to always make fun of all the time, but now Darcy is friends with them. One of the most important thing to me in the book was when they were all at tarrah party. roylin was talking about hakeem and he went over to him because he was mad and he hit roylin in his face. Roylin went running into the parking lot and he got shot in the head. Hakeem thought it was all his fought and wanted to go see if he was okay.him and darcy went to the hospital to see if he was okay. The next important part of the story was when Darcy old friend brisana was trying to go with hakeem. The only reason that brisana was doing that was because she felt like Darcy had dropped her and started hanging out with her new friends cooper and tarrah. Brisana and Darcy use to always talk about them . after Darcy got to know them she started to like them. Darcy and brisana had a argument about everything that was going on and Darcy felt bad. Darcy did not know that brisana felt this way. After this was all said and done Darcy and brisana became back friends. at the end of the the story dad was trying to come back into his family life. What made him want to do that was because he got stabbed and was tried of driving pass people houses and they were with there families.they mother don’t want him back into her life because he walked out on her once she thinks he will walk out on her again. Jamee want him back. When he started coming back around she started acting good. Darcy at first didn’t want him to come back because of what he did. Only reason she tried to make things right because of what roylin little told hers at the hospital

Hole in my Life
The book is a very interesting book and I think that the author of the book did a wonderful job at telling his story on his journey to becoming a successful author. The main think I like about the book is how the author managed to stay by his self during high school even though it was at places he did not want to stay. During the story the author had a lot of soul searching to do and finally at the end of the book, he finally knew what he wanted to do with his life as an author. Going to prison and hanging around with the type of people that has done more terrible crimes than the author gave him a wake up call and plus he had a lot of time on his hands to think about what he have done and the decisions he need to make to make his life better. Keeping a journal in prison was a good idea because everything that he thought of went into his journal and gave him a lot to write about. He also wrote about some of the situations that went on in prison that was kind of interesting to him or something he just didn’t understand. My favorite part of the book is when he was in prison and one of the guard was taking him to the hole and he said the only reason why a man would be taken to the hole is if he did something wrong. He said he couldn’t think of nothing that he have done to make the guard take him there at all. When they arrived to the part of the prison that the hole was located a butt naked man was already in there lying on a mattress. He was hollering that a light bulb was stuck in his butt. The guard asked how the light bulb got there and he said that it fell from the ceiling and went right in his butt and he couldn’t do anything. The author said he was kind of puzzled about the situation and couldn’t understand how that could happen. The guard told him to go get the doctor and tell the doctor to bring his things because they needed him in the hole to pull a light bulb out of the man’s butt. I think that was very weird and interesting at the same time. Overall, the book was very goodmy life

Fusion Jazz

Fusion Jazz is a very relaxing sound of music which is formed by alot of different styles of music combined in one. It became popular in 1920s Lee Ritenour was one of the musicians that was invovled in this music. I found out that rock, hip hop, jazz, and so on. One of the first jazz musicians to attempt this fusion jazz was guitarist Larry Coryell who, along with Bob Moses and Jim Pepper, formed the Free Sprits in 1966. The sound of fusion is a very good sound that will become a well known form music.

Rhythm and Blues or better known as R&B. R&B has been around for many years. It started with artist such as James brown, Nat King Cole, and a current R&B legend Ronald Isley A.k.A Mr. Big. Now there are a few artist who keep the tradition going such as R. Kelly, Mary J. Blige, and Musiq Soul Child. Most people didn’t know that R&B has three types of styles. They had Chicago style, Motown Sound, and Southern soul. The 1970’s through the 1980’s was the time period the music style exploded. Artist like James Brown who revolutionized the style of R&B, helped it really become what it is today.

Jazz is a very relaxing and classical music that was started in New Orleans and St. Louis. Louis Armstrong was on of the best jazz musicians his favorite instrument was the trumpet. Miles Davis was also a very famous artist he love leading bands and playing the trumpet like Louis Armstrong. Jazz is actually originated from West Africa. Jazz was very helpful in the 1880's because they were going through hard times dealing with the Jim Crow laws and segregation. Since they was going through segregation jazz music lift they spirits because most people was always sad.

First Impressions

I like the book Hole in My Life. Jack Gantos life story has been very interesting, it has been an adventure. He could really go back and look at all the mistakes he’s made, but I guess without those mistakes he wouldn’t be who he is today. I believe he could have taken the easy way out and went to college when he had a chance, instead of waiting to get more money for a different school. I think at some point in his life, like while in prison he regretted not going to the University of Florida. You can tell by reading this book that he had the drive, and the determination of one day becoming a writer, he just went about it the wrong way. It all started in high school, hanging with the wrong crowd. Someone walked up to him and asked if he wanted to go to a weed party. Jack was unsure about going, but he accepted any how, even with all his doubts. He went, smoked a little and didn’t really enjoy himself. But something must have been good that night, because after that it was like he was addicted to the stuff. The hash had him constantly being paranoid; this should have turned him off. Jack just wanted adventure and I guess he had to be high to get it. Every time someone offered him a descent proposal, he jumped for it. Like Tim Scanlon, he offered Jack a job he couldn’t refuse. He was thinking it was going to be some easy money, but he was wrong. He was stranded on a boat with a complete stranger, the guy was crazy, and didn’t care that much for Jack. I know while he was sailing he was in fear of his life; Hamilton was stuck in the war. I knew at some point he was bound to snap, that’s why the trip didn’t end to well. When they got to New York they both ran into a lot of problems. They ran into navy territory, no where to tie up the boat, they were just paranoid all the time. They left the boat for a minute and later found out that someone had been on it. This left them shells shocked and very nervous. Then at the hotel the FBI showed and arrested Hamilton and the others, Jack saw and left undetected. He went back to Davy’s, in Florida.

When i read the book hole in my life i thought it was going to be boring and when i opened the book it was good but the chapters are so long and it was good. the most important thing in the book is that when the fbi came to look for them in the hotel it was jack and hamilton, hamilton had just got a call from rik and someone was about to buy all of the hash they had left. when hamilton left jack decided to write so he went to the lobby to chill when he saw the fbi and they had hamilton pinned down to te ground. jack didnt know what to do but hamilton pointed out some guys and they were the wrong ones and he ran out the back. jack ran up the stairs and packed his bagges and left he was about to run down the fire escape but he had saw hamilton run that way so he decide to run out the back door, he took two train and then we went back to florida. days after that he called his father and his father said that the best thing for him to do was to turn himself in, so he decided to turn himself in, he went to a lawyer that his father gave him and called him up. this lawyer name was mr. newman he told him that it was the best thing for him to do but he had to wait for trial. jack went and brought a suit and washed up and went to go see his lawyer. days after that he went to court and his case was the first one, they told him that he had to go to jail because they know that he was involved. he went to jail and found out that he had lice he had to be in a cell by himself because they didnt want any of the other inmates to get it. he didnt have anything to occupy his time so he sat staring at the yellow wall and when he went to sleep he put the pillow over his face so that the yellow wouldnt get into his eyes. the next time he went to the doctor all his lice was gone, he didnt want to go the population so he ask did they have any thing avaliable they did so they gave him the job to take x rays.
