Demeisco Ford

Teen death seems very common in the Chicago area. To begin with, Chicago was once a place that I could call home. Now it seems like a war zone. From September to now, over 24 students in the Chicago Public School district have been killed this school year. I often wonder what is the world coming to. Death at an early age is never a desire. Gang violence is the number one component causing these unfortunate deaths. As I read the news article, it came to my attention that gangs play a significant role. Twenty-two of the death were from gun-shots, one brutally beaten, and one was stabbed. Half of the deaths dealt with gang activities. Chicago Public School students live in fear of knowing that anytime of the day you could be next. Personally, I feel that the Chicago Police Department should take a stand. We, as a community, should come together and stop the violence, keep guns off the street, and keep our up-and-coming generation alive.
