Cameron Currie

3rd period
On December 24, 1989 I was born Cameron Currie. I grew up on the south side of Chicago, Illinois in the Englewood area. I am the youngest of seven kids it would’ve been eight but, my twin died the day he was born. As a kid in a rough neighborhood with all the gang violence like drive-bys, shoot outs and drug dealing it was hard growing up in that type of environment. Also when I was younger I liked to play basketball all the time but no one really took me serious at the time because I was short but, once I showed them what I could do they stopped treating me like a little kid and realized that I can really play ball. I went to Sir Miles Davis Academy but, I didn’t play basketball for them because I didn’t know at the time that schools had basketball teams. So when I went to Vernon Johns I played for them seventh and eighth grade year but, I really didn’t play hard because I never knew about high school scouts and things like that. So when I got to Harper High School I tried out for the team but I didn’t make it because I wasn’t good enough at the time. Since I didn’t make the basketball I tried something knew and played baseball I didn’t know I was good until I tried it out and now I am really good at it. So now at Harper I play short-stop, second base and pitcher and I think I might try it out at the collegiate level and really test out my skills on the field and who knows maybe I’ll be good enough to make it to at least the minor league in baseball.

That is a run-on sentence.
As a kid in a rough neighborhood with all the gang violence like drive-bys, shoot outs and drug dealing it was hard growing up in that type of environment.
there should be a comma after shoot-outs.
