The Song...Then The Lyrics
When it comes to hip-hop there are many aspects to attracting a listener; the beat, the status of the artist, the hook, but the one thing we never listen to first are the lyrics. There are many hip-hop artists that create extravagant music with exceptional lyrics, which are considered historic. It is only a small group of listeners that pay attention to the depth of the lyrics and art that the lyrics make. It is most likely that listeners always listen for something attractive on the track; after a while the person listens to the lyrics which would either make the track that much better or worst. Artists like Lupe Fiasco, Jay-Z, Drake has the most creative lyrics hip-hop has ever seen however that is only half their success. In the music business there are other values that make a track; like production, producing, promotions, etc. is what makes a track quality to the artist and the label. To the listeners the beat, the hook, the image, is what attracts a listener; but when the lyrics is heard the track can be something much more special to that person the lyrics becomes memorized and never forgotten. It becomes something cherished.
