“Jewel”

My conclusion to the story “Jewel” I felt that it was realistic, I say that because even when it’s not in the story it’s happening in real life. If women didn’t have a job to pay her rent how else would she expect to survive, I would say use a man for all he has. Being that Monsieur Lantin knew that she had no money he thought that all the jewelry was fake. He wouldn’t have suspected that she was cheating to get all the jewelry she had encountered; she was attending operas every time she felt the need to get out the house. Now if I was a man and both me and my wife had no job to pay our bills and she was coming in the house with money and jewelry and I’m knowing it’s not a gift from me at that point I would of start suspecting that there was something going on in her life that I knew nothing about. At the point of the story when she died from pneumonia and he had no way to live and he took it into his own hands to find out how much the jewelry was even though he thought it was fake. It came out to be that it was worth more then he could of imagined and at that point he then realized that she had a secret life but could do nothing more about but spend the money, he didn’t even think that when he got married six moths later that his new wife would be hell.
