Beowulf’s Last Battle
This Scene is Beowulfs battle with the dragon. This starts of with Beowulf is talking about how he don’t know what fear is because when he was young he fought a lot of battles and he will fight again if the dragon want to fight him. So then he is telling his friends on how he will kill this dragon with his own hands with out using weapons if he could. How Beowulf talking about how the dragon breathes hot fire and poison comes from his tongue. Then he says his goodbyes to his friends and goes to the dragon layer. At the dragons layer he describes it as a dangerous place were no coward will dare to go but his walks toward there with confidence. So when he gets there he lets out a battle cry that awakes the dragon and makes it come out. When the dragon comes out they get close to each other knowing that only one of them will walk away from this fight. Beowulf raised his shield and took his sword out with his heart beating fast. They were both ready for war. It was a hard fought war and Beowulf was a beaten warrior and Wiglaf would be the next. Then Wiglaf made up his mind that he was going to try to defeat the dragon. Before he fought he reminisced on the times they had at the mead hall. They talk about how the king was a great warrior in his young days but know the king depends on his warriors to fight his battles. They get the warriors togehter and make a speech to get these warriors ready to go and defeat this beast.
Who fought the dragon First?
Who would become the next warrior?
Who was speaking to the army when he said they would defend Beowulf if he needed help?
