BR: When you think of Chicago, what comes to mind?
When I think of Chicago, many things come to mind, such as the gang violence that takes place in Chicago. I have put up with the gang violence for quite a long time and, even though I have tried my absolute best to stray away from any gang related activity, it always seems to find a way to me. In my freshman year, my friends and I were jumped on by 4 or 5 members of a gang. Even though not one of us were gang related, we were still jumped on simply because one of the gang members wanted my jacket.
There's also Downtown Chicago, the better part of Chicago that I love. Each and every single time that I go downtown, there's so much to do and so many things that can occupy my time when I'm there. Downtown, there're various museums, tours that you can schedule, Navy Pier, and so many other things that you can do. I actually considered moving downtown, but it's really noisy and really busy, so I reconsidered.
When I think about Chicago, I think about the last 10 years that I have been in the Englewood area. My time spent in this area would have to be rated as an "okay" in my book. I mean, there's been violence around my area. There have been disturbances and arrests around my area, but it's not gotten to me, really. I mean, there are certain times where I sit back and look at all of this and just think. Other time, however, the drama gets so bad that I find myself on the verge of crying, which is nothing to be ashamed of. Some of the situations that I have seen and witnessed are so depressing that it would be easy for one to find themselves crying at some point.
