The eyes of Hurston’s characters are watching a hurtful but trusted god that people questioned. The god Hurston characters are watching is hurtful it brought a lot of pain into people lives especially Janie. The death of her grandma and the no good men god brought in and out her life, to tea cake stealing her money, to the death of both of her husbands after all the bad things that god did, Janie still trusted him enough that every time a man came in her life she trusted god to let him be the one. Janie questioned god every time something bad happened in her life.
