Being an upstander is not easy, many people have tried but only some are noticed for their actions. An upstander is a person that does not stand by when trouble occur they take actions and try to resolve the situation, a person that selfless is a great example of an upstander. My school been a social justice school, upstanding is a skill that we must practice. A story was released about a football player that put his own life in danger by saving twenty two people on a bus; he was listening to his mp3 player, until one of his sisters told him what was happening, he didn’t care for his life or was afraid, he tried to calm the girl down and as she looked outside the window. He jumped and hit the gun away from her and the whole bus riders were safe, because of his courageous. She was taken to juvenile detention center for charges of attempted aggravated assault, kidnapping and of possession of a firearm on school property. Some people think it was stupid, he could have died or been badly injured, but that what being an upstander is about risking your life for the safety of others.
