Their Eyes Were Watching God was about a girl looking to find love. She isn't like the other girls she looks black Janie is looking for love and she thought she found it with Tea Cake. Her grandma didn't approve of her wanting her to go with somebody who was 12 years older than her. Toward the end of the book, Tea Cake expects for her to actually play the woman role in a marriage and she didn't want to.
