Till’ Death Do Us Part
It was a beautiful sunny day; Adenine went on a date with a crush of hers, named John. He took her out to see a movie at the park, and took fruit, sandwiches, and juice pouches. During the movie, John kissed Adenine, it was less than a second, maybe half a second, but it changed everything. They both felt a spark, they had never felt before. They later on became officially a couple, but it wasn’t all sparkles and glitter, because they had so many enemies. Their parents didn’t agree on their relationship, so they tried to separate them whenever they got the chance to do so. Every time that Adenine told her parents that she had plans to go out with John, they would make up so many excuses so that they wouldn’t hang out. John’s parents tried to present other girls to him, but he knew his heart belonged to Adenine. Their parents never accomplished separating them. So, one day, Adenine and John fled from Colorado to New York City, because they loved the big city and wanted to experience a new way of life. However, as John was driving he fell asleep for only 4 seconds when he crashed into a trailer on the expressway. Their parents never knew about them until they found out they had died in a terrible car crash, and later on felt guilty for their selfishness.

My Favorite Place - Jeremy Martinez
There are a lot of places I like to go to, but there is only one place in particular that I feel like I can spend the rest of my life at, and this place is my room. It’s where I keep all of my belongings and everything in my room defines who I am. My room is painted red because my favorite color is red, and when the lights are off, the room is really dark, which is something I like. If you look what are on my red walls, the first thing you will notice will be big black letters that spell, “TheCrexTe”, which is my rap name. I just took tape and sharpie and I spelled out the letters with tape and colored it with black sharpie. Next thing you will notice on my walls will be some pictures and two awards. The pictures aren’t mine because my room was a storage room before I was born. The awards are mine; one award is for when I used to play baseball and my team won the championship and I got a plaque for being on the team; the other award was for something I don’t even know. It was for this thing called the “American Legion” and it for veterans like my grandpa, but they have this grandkids organization, which I’m apart of and one day my grandpa came home with the award and he gave it to me. Next thing that sticks out is what is on my floor around my room. I just have a few chairs around the room, one is a recliner, one is a gaming chair, and the other chair is a fold up chair. Next thing you will notice will be my dresser, or my entertainment center. My dresser has a bunch of crap on top of it like cologne, deodorant, papers, pens, and a bunch of random stuff. I keep my personal stuff in my top draw of my dresser like personal notebooks I write in and stuff my friends give me. I don’t really have it arranged, I just throw anything in there and it lands where ever. My entertainment center has a bunch of random crap on it to, but I have more stuff that I like to show off. I have a trophy from grammar school with a bunch of awards on it. I have a cap gun musket on top of it just because it looks cool. Then I have my dumbbells on there, even though I barely use them. I usually have dishes on top of there, so it shows I’m messy. What all of this means to me is I have everything in my room how I want it. When people come over, I still keep everything in order. Some people have contributed to my room and why it is the way it is, but I fixed the room to accustom me. When you look in my room, you already can tell that I’m messy, unorganized, but you can tell that I’m just me. So that is why my room is my favorite place, my room is me.
Most kids in my school brag about the neighborhood they grew up in.  “Oh, I live on blah blah and Campbell” or “I live in the hood.” Or sometimes they brag about where they live and use the excuse that, “they moved into this lame ass neighborhood.” Half of the time they’re not from where they say they grew up in, that one of the things that really bothers me.  I mean, if you ask me where I’m from, I’ll gladly say I live right by midway. I didn’t grow up in a bad neighborhood; I grew up in a pretty calm area. No gang banging, no violent crews. It’s a pretty peaceful area. Want to know the best part of it? Well for me, I get pretty lonely and bored. There are days where it’s cool and sunny outside; it’s just a day you don’t want to waste inside. A couple blocks away from my house, deep inside the “village” (that’s what they call the area I live in) there’s a park. It’s not just any park; it’s the park that raised me. I grew up in this park. What I loved most about this park was being able to look back and say “yup, that’s my park, the park that raised me.”  This [ark made my childhood the best. The moment I was able to walk, the first place my parents would take me was the playground at Lawler Park. From there I grew up and started playing basketball and realized how, much I loved it. Id practice up there every day just shooting around until the sun went down. There’s times where I would be in the worst of moods and I’d just go have a late night shoot around.  Lawler Park is a park is a place where everyone gets along and enjoys themselves.  Lawler Park is home.

Reminiscence of a Place

There’s no place like New Orleans. After moving at the age of 7 because of hurricane Katrina, I lost most of my memories of living there. I visited New Orleans Winter Break of 2012. The funny thing is, my brother, who I visited, lives only a couple houses of down of where I lived in until I was 7. The weather was always nice, not too hot, and not too cold. It was a long 15 hour drive to New Orleans from Chicago. My favorite part of the drive was when we finally arrived. The first thing I saw was the bridge, and then I definitely knew we were in New Orleans. It was around 5 am and the sky was pink and orange, it looked beautiful. I remembered as a young girl, my dad would always drive past the bridge. My favorite place was the French Quarter. There was jazz music playing, Christmas lights everywhere, and the weather was perfectly chill. I was really excited to go to the French Quarter, I even remember waking up at 7 am and waking everyone else up because I was excited to go. There were so many little shops on every corner of the street. Magnets, key chains, bumper stickers, Bourbon Street name plates, and everything imaginable was sold in these shops. Bourbon Street is the most famous street in New Orleans. Everyone in Bourbon Street is huge fans of the New Orleans Saints, during football games, there are tons of people packed in bars and cafes cheering on their favorite football team through a TV screen. My family stopped by a cafĂ© and my nephew really liked the band that was playing, he started singing along to the song. There are many street performers on Bourbon Street. I specifically remember a group of maybe 5 or 6 guys that would dance every single day. What I found interesting is I remembered them from when I used to live in New Orleans, and they were still there when I went back. They usually danced by an auditorium set up but instead of there being chairs, there were stairs and people would sit and enjoy the show. My favorite street performer was a pantomime, he had silver paint all over him, and every inch of his body was covered in silver. He was completely quiet throughout his entire performance. There are many things that remind me of New Orleans and I hope to visit again soon.

When I Was Six - Leslie Meza

Ever heard of that game called telephone? Where you have a group of people gathered in a circle and one person tells a story to the person next to them and once the story has been passed around to the last person, it’s a completely different story? Well once you get older, that’s how everything seems to be. I wish I was six again. I wish this because then I would actually live it up. I would actually embrace every moment. I would only have to worry about what id do in school the next day or what toys I’d play with. I wouldn’t have to worry about what friend will backstab me or who’s just going to talk bad about me. Nowadays seem to be about stupid drama or people who are fake. When I was six, everyone got along. The only thing bad we would do to each other is stick out our tongues to each other or make ugly faces or roll our eyes at each other. A little bump with someone would end with an “oh, I’m sorry.”, but that was only when I was six. Now that I’m older, a little bump with someone isn’t so little. It could end with a dirty look or a big argument or maybe even a fight. Life just seemed much simpler when I was six.

New Puppy
My dog passed away in December 2012. My dad really wanted to get another dog but I didn’t think he’d be able to handle it after just losing her. She was a Doberman pinscher and her name was Misty.  She was black with brown spots. She was 9 years old when she passed. We always talked about getting a new dog but never made an effort to find one. So I decided to go and do some research. I found a breeder that had puppies and I told my dad about it and we decided to go check it out.  The only reason we went is because I kept nagging my dad and it worked. We ended up taking a ride out there to look at the puppies. Once we got there, she greeted us and led us inside to the basement where the puppies were. She took them out and let them run around in a baby pool so they didn’t run off. It was so hard to pick because they all looked the same!  There were 6 of them and they were all running around, happy as can be, wagging their tales. It was the cutest thing ever. I just wanted to take all them home! So then I struck my hand in toward them and I picked the first one that licked me and I just fell in love. The only problem is that my dad really wanted a black Doberman like our old one and these were more a rust/brown color. I kept nagging him. Plus, he really knew I wanted it and that I fell in love with it once I laid my eyes on it. My dad kept telling me “I’ll think about it” and he knows how I hate when he says that because it would take him 15 years to decide. The following day, we ended up going back and we ended up getting the dog. My dad was talking to the lady and was paying her while I was outside with the puppy trying to get her to walk. I was kind of hoping I’d be able to name her but my dad wanted her to keep the name Misty like our old dog. Once we brought her home, we introduced her to my other dog, Max. Max is a Yorkshire Terrier Chihuahua mix. He’s quite a wild dog if you ask me. He always thinks he runs the house so he had a little competition with the new dog. They just sniffed each other and max ran away because he was scared. We gave her a little bone and she went and occupied herself with it. She’d take the toys and then run. She’d always whack into the chairs and walls. I kind of thought it was like me too because I’m a klutz. She was a real pain taking care of her but I think it was all worth it. She’s the best dog I’ve ever had.

Short Story

Taylor Hunt          P.2
CINDY
It was a late night; there was a light breeze through allies in the city of Boston. Rain drops trickled on the window panes and tapped on them like fingers dancing across the keys of a keyboard. Under a black umbrella was a woman named Karol; eyes wide open she gripped the bottle of whiskey in one hand and shook her cigarette pack open in the other. This night was one of many others in which she didn’t have the money to pay for dinner for a night, or even a bed to sleep in. If she was lucky she would be offered a bed by a stranger, and a man at that. Out here on the streets, she was known as Cindy. On days like this she would picture herself in the finest gown with jewels embedded on the sides and a silky material would kiss the ground and sway gently across it as she walked. Her heels, shiny and just the perfect fit, would click as she walked just like her mother’s did when she was a little girl. She pictured herself sitting at her vanity surrounded by lights, and pulled up her long pearl gloves and fit her fingers in snugly. Her hair, in which she would imagined, would wave like a golden waterfall down to her waist and was brushed out with only the finest silver bristled brush. And alas, she would make and grand entrance and walk down the red steps with patience. In this picture she imagined, she wouldn’t have to rush life or depend on anybody else. And when she opened her eyes back open, she was awakened by the sun that rose in that unfamiliar bedroom with that unfamiliar face and some familiar money on the bedside. She got up, took the money, and left. She counted a ten, a fifty, and a one-hundred dollar bill. With just enough money she would go to buy some food and a night at a motel room to get clean and fed before she would have to go back to her reality. And every now and then she discovers a bruise from the night before. The Cindy everybody knew was a woman with an addiction, a medical issue, a whore, a prostitute, a nobody. The Cindy that she knew herself as was a lonely woman that was lost with no hope, and nobody. She went to pick up a few things from the pharmacist. A couple of pain killers and some alcohol should do the job. The pills and her lay across the motel floor with no sound or movement. The clock stroke twelve once; twice; three times. Her tale had ended and even her godmother could not save her. “Those pearly white shoes would’ve never fit” she thought to herself one last time. The princes weren’t the fairest either, and all her dreams had disappeared along with them. And Cindy, or shall I say “Cinderella” found her happy ending within her end. And the night went on as the rain tapped on the window.
Once upon a time, there was a boy named Michael Cortes. Michael Cortes went to John F. Kennedy High School. Everybody called him the king of swag because he had so much swag.

How I wish I could take your pain
Your anger and sorrow
To make you smile and laugh like you’re supposed to
To get you out of that room and let you play outside
To take out the fear in your brother’s eyes
To bring this family together again
To see you grow up and live out your life
Because six years just isn’t long enough
You ask if it’s time to start packing your suitcase for heaven
Your parents cannot bear to lie to you,
Their only daughter
They ask you to watch over them from above
As they say they’ll pray for you from below
And we’ll all pray for you

Graveyard Shift -Jamie Musso

Graveyard Shift
Tonight was the night. The first night the clan would have the night off from their silly “monster hunts”. Sindy, Veronica, Danny, Frito, and of course Salem the Cat were all on their way to a get-together on the forests’ edge.  They were all dressed up in their fancy dresses and tuxedoes, even Salem the Cat was dressed up. They were approximately 35 miles into the forest when Salem randomly jumped out of the van window.
Not minding Salem could have been hurt, Sindy wails, “Salem! You stupid cat! You’re going to get your new tux all dirty!” Frito parked the car on the side of the road. The gang sprang out of the van, and ran into the forest. Not thinking or caring what might possibly be in there.
After an hour and a half of searching for Salem, they decided it was useless. Sitting down on a low branch, Veronica states the obvious, “Sindy, I know you want to find Salem, but we’ve been searching forever, and everyone wants to go. It’s cold, wet, we’re all tired, and we’re late for the party. Besides, my dress is getting all dirty, and I don’t think I can last any longer in these heels.”
Sindy sighed and looked at the group’s exhausted faces, “Alright, alright, but we have to come back for him. No man left behind right?” As they all started to walk to the van, Sindy suddenly stopped, questioning them.
She angrily asks, “Did you guys really think I was serious? We can’t just leave Salem out here all alone, he won’t survive!” They all sighed and turned to face Sindy; they all looked at each other.
“She has a point you guys, Salem is a house cat, he won’t be able to survive on his own, the mosquitoes could kill him. Besides, the party’s probably going to be a drag anyways,” Frito explained. He clearly didn’t have any feelings for the feline, but he did have deep feelings for Sindy, who he would do anything for.
“Whose side are you on man, and what about us, Like Veronica said, it’s cold, wet, I’m starving, and I’m getting eaten up by mosquitoes too,” Danny complained.
Interrupting the group’s discussion was a faint rustling sound in the distance. Startled, they all froze.
“What was that?” Danny questioned. As they all stood there, the sound progressed toward them.
“I-it could be Salem,” Sindy stuttered.
“Or it could be something way worse, so I say we get the heck out of here,” Veronica suggested. They all stood there with their eyes clenched shut, motionless, breathless, and clueless of what was about to approach them. Until a slight meow approached, out of nowhere.
Slowly loosening her eyes, Sindy exclaimed, “Salem! I told you g-guys.” Her voice lowered to a light whisper, causing everyone else’s eyes to open.
“Ahhh!” they screamed in unison. Standing before them was a man, not just any man; he wore overalls that seemed to be a tad too large, that also smelled as if it hadn’t been washed in decades, and he belonged in a slaughter house. He wasn’t so wrinkly, just some on his forehead that must have been from frowning too much.  What really caught their attention was a shovel, propped up upon his shoulder, with what appeared to be covered in a red, gooey, substance. Was it blood? What else could it be? The unsettling sight caused the group to wheel back a couple feet away from the mysterious man.
“I um, found your cat lurking around my graveyard. I want him out, I want you out, and I want you all to stay out, you hear me!” the mysterious man demanded.
“Yes sir,” Danny said. “We’ll be out in just a minute, but may I ask, what is that on your shovel? Also, a graveyard in where I recall this to be a place of pure forest acres,” surprised that he could speak up the way he did. He crossed his arms and shifted his weight to one side.
The nameless man squinted, his mysterious, brown eyes at him and replied, “Why, it is none of your business. Now be gone, all of you, before there is trouble, and take that stupid feline with you!”
“Right away sir, there’ll be no trouble tonight. We’re just a little lost, but we’ll find our way out. Thank you for saving our cat, goodbye now,” Veronica quickly stated, as she pushed Danny and the others in the opposite direction of the odd man holding the shovel.
As they approached the street they came from, they noticed that there was something missing. What it was, they had no idea. Standing there in the middle of the road they realized that what they were searching for was their van. It was gone, where had it gone? They all searched up and down the street, but it was nowhere in sight. In fact, nothing was, besides a single dim streetlight that flickered above them.
“Where’s the van Frito?” Sindy curiously asked.
“It was right here! I’m absolutely positive that I parked the car right here! We must have gone the wrong way!” Frito angrily shouted.
“No we didn’t. There was only one way out, and that’s the way we came in. That’s what we did remember, I have a photographic memory!” Veronica corrected, feeling proud to be some sort of help.
“Maybe we should ask that one creepy guy we ran into in the forest, or should I say graveyard. Ooooooo,” Danny suggested, trying to do a poor imitation of a ghost.
After sometime of walking back into the forest, the group spotted a small shack in the distance. Half way through their journey to the shack, a sudden sobbing came from nowhere. They all looked at each other, but no one appeared to be crying. So who was it? They had no clue. Ignoring whoever it was, they continued on for their own deeds.
“Knock, knock, knock, anyone home?” Danny announced, trying to open the locked door.
“Guys, something’s not right about this place. It’s too suspicious, you know? Think about it, it’s the only house throughout this whole forest, or whatever you want to call it, and look there’s no gravestones. Isn’t this supposed to be a ‘cemetery’?” Veronica stated, while she shivered. It wasn’t cold out, actually it wasn’t cold at all, it was hot and humid.
“I thought I told you hooligans to scram! Why are you still here?” The old man yelled.
The startled bunch whipped around in shock, not expecting the odd man to be behind them. “Sorry, it’s just that someone stole our car,” they announced in unison, as if they had some kind of psychic communication.
“Is that so?” The man chuckled.
“Yes sir. So is it oaky if we stay here until sunrise tomorrow, we won’t-,” Frito spoke.
“No! Not enough room, and not enough time for kids. Now leave, I have things to do!”  The man quickly answered, interrupting Frito.
They looked at each other, shrugged, and headed back in the same direction they came. Once again having to find their way through the forest and to the dark street, where the only visible light was the dimmed street light that might not even be working any more, and the light of the moon and stars. They had to travel past the indescribable sobbing noise in the middle of nowhere, again.
“Help me, help me please!” a girl pleaded, while she once again began to sob.
“Guys, did you hear that?  Don’t you think we should check it out?” Frito, worried about who or what it can be in the middle of nowhere, asked.
“No way, we came here to find Salem, and that’s what we did. It’s not our problem anyway. It’s our day off remember? Plus, I’m not going to risk my life for someone when I don’t have any protection for myself! It’s one soul, not four. If I die, where is Salem going to go? Besides, we don’t have permission for an investigation anyways, and I need this job. So let’s go, like now!” Sindy demanded, meaning every word she said judging by the attitude in her voice. There was obviously no chance of changing her mind.
“But Sindy, someone could use our help!” Frito pleaded
“But nothing, we’re leaving!” Sindy exclaimed.
“Fine, fine, fine, you’re right. We can’t be that far from the edge of the forest anyways. Let’s go,” Frito sighed. “What do you guys think?”
The rest of the group looked at each other and nodded in agreement. They walked onward, not knowing if the girl who was pleading was in real big trouble, or just a simple girl who lost her way. They had to live with that guilty conscious, knowing that someone could have needed their help, but ignored it to go to some party.

Reminiscence of a Person

My grandmother was the funniest person I know. She was full of jokes, pointless information, and was always laughing. Whenever I’m having a bad day her smile would make me feel so much better. On those summer walks, she’d smile at all the colorful flowers, the bird’s chirpings, and wind flowing through her hair. She was the life of the party. Once, at a family gathering she walked in like she owned the place! She made sure everyone knew she was there. “Hello, I’m here,” she’d call out. She greeted everyone with her beautiful smile and warm hug. Looking back at all she done makes me miss her even more. It makes me sad that I didn’t send enough time with her, but all the stories I’ve heard makes me feel like I did. I visited a friend of hers on my trip to Poland and he told me how she was when she was a young lady. Everyone knew her and vice-versa. Once again I heard how her smile could brighten up a room and her eyes were like stars in the dark sky. I find it strange how I find out so many things about my grandmother after she left this world and I find out in the strangest ways. At my cousin’s step-grandmother’s funeral, a sad time for all of us, with my eyes already full of tears I find out my family aren’t 100% related. My grandmother a lady with a beautiful soul never got married. I suppose when people told me she knew everybody she really knew them! I was in shock and was left speechless! All these mixed emotions started to brew in me like my stomach was a stew. I felt anger, sadness, confusion, and somewhat abandoned. That night and all the nights after that I cried, cried like I never cried before. Those tears weren’t for the people I lost, but the realization that blood doesn’t make you family, love does.
It’s an honor when I hear that I am so much like my babcia (grandmother.) We’re both filled with cocky jokes, information no one needs (but useful,) and a heart of gold. These days, I realize we are alike, laughing at everything and smiling at anything. I feel like I finally understand he and the decisions she made. She always thought that being sadness was a waste of time because life is short and you shouldn’t be anything, but happy. I suppose she though me that. Smile through the pain, because you can’t have a rainbow without a little rain.

The Dirtywhirl of Life(Not Finished!!)

The day. I remember so clearly. I walked into her room, calling out her name, scared. There was no response. I looked in every room until there was one left. The bathroom. I whisper to myself “She can’t be in there.” I slowly push the half closed door and there I see her half lifeless body. I scream her name and run towards her. I kneel and pick her up in my arms and she just softly looks up at me and whispers “I love you Victor. I’m sorry.” And that’s the moment she went limp into my arms. She was gone. Gone forever.
I look down at my feet as I walk down the crumbled, gray sidewalk. Someone rushes by me and I look up as they hit the bouquet of flowers I hold in my hand. “A**hole.” The man doesn’t even notice I was even there.  I look gently up as I see an opening to the right side of me. The fencing stopped. I’m here. I look up towards the sky and I see the words “Mortuary Cemetery”. I find this name very funny, but I mean it was built in the 1920’s and surprisingly still standing. “Heh. I really need a real sense of humor. Oh well.” I walk in very slowly, for some reason expecting all the graves around me to start shaking and have the start of a zombie apocalypse right in front of my eyes. But that doesn’t happen, of course. I walk deeper and deeper into what seems like miles of just dead bodies under old graves and won’t even show the name of who’s underneath them. Final I spot a newer one that I can read. “Samantha Madison. . .” I whisper to myself as I try to choke back all the tears and emotions. I sit in front of the tombstone and just read her name, over and over again. I just can’t believe how I lost her. I lost her to my stupidity. Only if I would have ran to her house. Only if I wouldn’t have bought that pack of smokes on my way. Only if is all I can ever say anymore because I can’t do a damn thing to bring her back. I gently lay the bouquet of flowers against her tombstone and the ground. Her favorite. Crimson roses. I can just see her smile shine and eyes sparkle if she’d see these. I pull my pack of smokes out of my pocket and take my lighter out with the corner cigarette. I light it and take a long drag. “I think these damn things are the only thing ever keeping me alive.” I chuckle to myself. Then I hear a girlish giggle from behind me. My eyes widen as my back straightens. I gently turn around, not too fast but not too slow like an old creepy man watching little girls play from a park bench. As I look up towards the sky, I see this girl. My age. Long dark hair. Deep brown eyes, like hers. My size, which is pretty scary if you see an 18 year old, male weighing around 115lbs. She can’t even start off a conversation right. “So you’re here to see Sammy too? I still can’t believe she’s dead. I miss my sister. It’s quiet around the house.” Now I know who this mysterious girl is. Victoria Madison; Samantha’s 16 year old sister, only two years younger then Sam. I think to myself ‘Well this escalated quickly.’ “Well if you want to put it bluntly, yes, why wouldn’t I visit her? She was my girlfriend remember Vicki?” I stand up slowly. I don’t enjoy her presence, she’s just, she acts so stupid, or maybe she is. Hmm. She just stares at her sister’s grave for several minutes like she’s turned dead herself. I look at her and try to study her mind. ‘Why is she even here? Does she do this every time she is here? What is she thinking about?’ I can’t stop asking myself all these questions and by the time I come back to reality I’m staring at a different persons grave and she disappeared. “THE HE-!!! Where did she go?” I shrug it off then look back down at Sammy’s grave and there’s a colorful card right behind my flowers I laid down. I kneel down and pick it up, look at the drawing on the cover and then open it.
Sammy, I know you really can’t read this but I know somehow you’ll get my message; I can’t do this anymore. Mom and Dad are always yelling at each other about having no more money ever since you left. Plus with Mom asking for more hours and Dad always having the “never come home” job I’m always alone. I don’t like being alone anymore. Sammy, I want to know why. Why did you leave everyone alone? You left Mom, Dad, Grandma, all your friends and me to fight this damned world alone. Especially Victor. I don’t want him to fight alone like I am. Honestly, I want to fight with him, I want to be as happy as you were with him, but of course it won’t happen, he said at your funeral how you guys would be together forever in his heart so I understand. Sammy, I love you. Plus I’m going to join you at those pearly gates soon. Please wait for me.’
After reading that I feel the warm tears slowly rolling down my cheeks. I can’t let her do that, she doesn’t deserve it and neither do her loved ones. I drop the card and run to her house and the front door is wide open but no cars in the driveway; I run inside and for instinct reason I run to the upstairs hallway bathroom and I see the same thing I saw the day I found Sammy, I see her half lifeless body. The bottle of pills Victoria held slowly rolls out of her hand and I sit her up against me and make her throw up most of the pills she had swallowed. My warm tears still fall down my face like Niagara Falls and she regains consciousness and she looks up at me and realizes it’s me and her eyes start to sparkle in the most beautiful jade green. I plead in between sob sessions, “Please don’t leave me. Don’t leave. Don’t leave.” My head is in my heart but the reality in me realizes that I’m pleading just like I did with Sammy. Do I have feelings for Victoria? Or is it all just the sympathy for her because of losing Sammy?
I smile as I look gently at her bright green gold eyes, shining with the sun. In my eyes, they’re brighter then the sun will ever be. She catches me looking at her and she giggles, “Stop it!” I smirk, “Stop what?! I’m not doing anything!” I chuckle. She just smiles and shakes her head gently and looks back up at the soft, light blue sky. I get lost in her eyes. It’s like there’s a whole other world just in her eyes. Those eyes can tell a story better then any novel that was ever written, or ever will be. “You know what I want to do one day?” she whispers softly to me as she still looks up into the sky. “And what’s that my love?” She blushes lightly and then turns to me excitedly, “I want to just lie down on a blanket at the park and just stare at the stars. The stars are an amazing founding actually, like when you look up and you can find the brightest one out there and for all you know it could have been dead for a million years, and yet it still shines so bright. Stars actually give me the slightest hope in life. Like I could be no one yet still shine brightly.” She smiles and looks up at the sky again but her eyes don’t shine as brightly as they did. I wrap my arm around her shoulders and leans my head against hers “Maybe one day, Ill make sure you get to stare up at the stars until you fall asleep.” I smile gently and kiss the top of her head. She breaks away from the grip of my arms, she balls her hands into fists, and screams. “REALLY?!?!” I can’t help but chuckle softly, “Of course, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you my love.” Then she wraps her arms around me so tightly that I gasp for air, and smile deep into her eyes.
After I come back to reality I find myself staring into Victoria’s deep, crystal blue eyes, like the ocean. Her crying has stopped. I can see the relief in her eyes. Then I hear the door downstairs open and a womanly voice call out Victoria’s name and I say loud enough to be heard but soft enough to show the despair, “Up here.” Then I hear fast footsteps running up the stairs and Victoria’s mother standing in the door way with her hands covering her mouth. I lower my head feeling ashamed for nothing, “She wrote it in a card she left at Sammy’s grave and I ran straight here. Ironic I saved Vicki but not Sammy.” I then lay Victoria against the bathroom wall and then rush past her mother, hoping no one saw the hot tears rushing down my face.
“Take me, this is all that I've got.
This is all that I'm not, all that I'll ever be.
I've got flaws, I've got faults.
Keep searching for your perfect heart.
It doesn't matter who you are.
We all have our scars, we all have our scars.”
All I can remember for weeks on end is the lyrics to Sammy’s favorite song. “Scars” by Allison Iraheta, I believe. She would always sing this to herself when shed be going through something rough, or just when she wanted to sing her heart out. She was a beautiful singer. Not just a singer, damn, she made everything beautiful. She made the deepest and hardest of art or music look so elegant. I never understood how she could always capture the deep-hearted message no one ever wanted to admit or understand and make it into something so eye-catching and wondrous. Sammy was like my own personal Wonder Woman, she could do anything.
One Saturday morning I wake up to the sound of someone knocking on my bedroom door and in a haze I say come in and squint my eyes to the door but I can barely see anything. “Ugh, too much sun.” I moan to myself and I hear a girlish giggle. I freeze. I look to the right of my bed and I see a womanly figure. Not really a woman, but a girl, teenager. I can’t make any features out. “I'm sorry I woke you up but I need someone and well, I don’t really have much of a choice on who I can go to,” the voice pauses to choke back tears, “I mean everyone thinks I’m a suicidal maniac and want to either keep me away from them, or not get enough of me to make sure I’m fine every second.” I finally realize who it is without seeing, I blink twice and I sit up finally being able to see and she hugs me. I wrap my arms softly around her and don’t let her go for awhile so she can feel safe. “I'm sorry; I just feel so scared, of others and well, myself.” After hearing those words, oh so similar to Samantha’s I just hold he tightly, and then she gently slides out of my arms and sits on the floor. I push the covers off me and then blush deep red realizing that I'm still in my boxers. She giggles. I run to my closet and slip into a pair of pajama pants and then sit in front of her. “I'm glad you came to me.” I whisper softly, looking down oddly at her hands. I notice how long and boney her fingers are. She has long nails and keep picking at them. “What do you mean?” “Well I mean you’re scared, right?” I smirk softly. “Well, yeah.” she blushes. “Does that answer your question?” I finally look up into the ocean blue eyes staring back into mine, which are poop brown, at least how I look at them they are. Victoria just giggles softly. “So,” I say awkwardly, “anything you were really looking forward to do with me today?” “Well not really. I mean . . .” Victoria blushes deep red. I chuckle. ‘Wow, she really likes me.” I say to myself in my head. “Hmm, how about we just watch movies? That’ll get your mind off things.” She smiles brightly at me as she can now not only see relief but feel the relief, lifted from her heart and her head. I smile back at her and take her hand and lead her downstairs. All I can imagine in my head is he me doing the same thing but with her sister. We always had movie nights like this.
“UGGGHHHHH!! I'm so bored babe, what should we do?!” Samantha leans her head back in frustration. I laugh at how distressed she is, “I really don’t know. How about movies? I mean those are pretty distracting.” She gasps and shakes my shoulders, “That’s the best thing EVER!” She jumps up, grabs my hand and takes us downstairs to the living room and jumps on the couch and throws the remote at my stomach. “Ugh! What was that for?” “I wanna watch movies!!” Samantha acts like a little kid with a huge smile on her face. I laugh and search through all the movies on demand and that night we end up watching almost every Disney movie made. The best part of our movie nights was to see how happy Sammy was. Like watching movies was an art for her; it took away all of her troubles and all the things she always worried about.
“So what do you want to watch Vicki?” I blush, realizing how I said Vicki. I usually called her Victoria. I feel so lost in my head, with my rational thinking. But I feel so right in my heart, with all my emotions. Maybe I do like Victoria. I just don’t know how else to feel. I just sit down on the couch. Maybe I need to watch movies to get my mind off things too.
Victoria and I watch movies until its 10PM. She’s half asleep as we watch the credits of the last movie we watched. I feel the need to wrap my arm around her shoulders and when I do her head gently falls into the space between my shoulder and neck and she curls up closer. My heart starts racing as my eyes focus on the top of her head. I don’t know what to do. Damnit, Victor why don’t you know what to do?!! She whispers softly to herself. I gut the guts to speak up, “Hmm?” Her head jerks back and faces me, “Oh nothing, I was just talking to myself. I'm tired I better get going. I have to lock up the house anyways, no ones home.” I think to myself, “Stay here.” I then jump up, run upstairs and then calmly walk back downstairs. She looks at me confused and I smile, “I’ll walk you to your place.” Victoria smile and gets up then walks towards the front door. I follow behind her. Her dress flows right in front of me and I can feel the butterflies start cracking out of their cocoons and flutter around in my stomach. We step off the porch at the same time and then she looks up at me. I find it cute how she’s about two and a half heads shorter then me. Yea, I'm really getting into her, but I don’t know whether it’s a bad thing or a good thing.
During the far walk from my house to hers, we end up holding hands and she seems too shy to do anymore, but her eyes tell more then her actions ever could. I could tell how much more she wanted our hand holding to mean, how much more of a closer relationship she wanted. Well I had the perfect idea to make her comfortable with me, yet it came out of no where. As soon as she almost walks into her door to lock the door and go up to her room, I hold onto her arm and pull her back gently to where our faces are right in front of each other, “Come home with me and stay the night.” She looks at me with wide eyes and blushes deep red, “R-Really??” “Yes,” I look down and blush, “go get various items that girls usually bring to sleepovers. I promise you, you’ll have the best sleepover.” I smile as I look into her eyes. She giggles and gently nods like she doesn’t have any words. Her words seem to get caught in her throat as she runs to room. But as I step inside the door step, I hear her door close and I hear a giggle/scream sound and I realize that pretty much every girl, no matter how deep or un-girly-like will make that sound when they are the most excited they could ever be. Everyday I sometimes think whether if I was supposed to be a girl. I chuckle to myself and in a matter of minutes Victoria runs down the stairs with her favorite bag on her back, with the happiest look I’ve ever seen on her face. I can’t help but smile to the point where it hurts my cheeks. She locks the door and looks up at me. I get lost into her eyes, and in less then no time we are back at my house cuddling on the couch. I just question how we got so close like we’ve known each other for years on end, yet we barely have spoken. That night we spent talking about our pasts, and our troubles, not even paying attention to the movies so we had to re-watch all the movies. As the credits to the last movie around 2:30AM finishes and I look over at Victoria and she’s fast asleep. I smile. I gently pick her up and quietly carry her to my room and lay her down in my bed, on the side against the wall then crawl in next to her and cover us in the covers.

Joseph's Win

Joseph is just an average kid in a average high school but all that changed when Joseph encountered a lottery ticket on the floor. It all began on a cool Wednesday morning. As Joseph walked towards school he noticed a little paper floating around and as Joseph kept walking the paper came closer and closer. Finally the little piece of paper landed on his foot. Joseph starred at it and finally decided to pick it up. He put it in his book bag and proceed with his daily routine which was school. When Joseph got out of school he took the bus home. "Joseph!" yelled his mom. "Please run to the store and get tortillas! Pay with your money and Ill pay         you back when you get back." she said. Joseph put his book bag down and took out his wallet. As he was taking out his wallet he finally noticed that the little piece of paper was a lottery ticket. He picked it up and took it with him. Joseph then dragged his body to the store. When he got inside he immediately grabbed the tortillas and walked towards the cash register. He seen the lottery machine were you could check if you won any money. He took out the lottery ticket and said, "Oh, what the heck, its worth a try." As he scanned it A sound went off. Joseph could not believe it. He won half a million dollars. He paid for the tortillas and ran back home. "Mom!Mom!" Joseph screamed. "What?" she replied. "I found this lottery ticket this morning on the way to school and I checked to see if it was worth anything and it is! Half a million dollars!" Joseph's family became rich and lived happily ever after.

“There’s no place like”
There’s no place like the Chicago Center School of Music. Located relatively close to Walter Payton College Prep, the high school my sisters graduated from, it is where I go for my guitar lessons. There’s no place like this because I feel more comfortable at the center school than I do at home. Everything that I could imagine is there, like guitars and amps, pianos, drums, vocals, and other instruments that I’ve never even heard of or ever seen. When you walk in, you could hear vocalists warming up and singing through scales, and piano in the background. Being in a room full of guitars and amps, and everything you need is like a heaven. I’ve been going there for 10 years now, so it would feel weird if I just stopped going.

Family Problems

Have you ever felt like your tired of trying and just want to run away from home? My father came home one day and started yelling about how my mother didn't make dinner. It's funny because you might be thinking why would he be yelling just because of that? but he does complain. It wasn't just that day, this is a everyday thing that I got used too. I always run to my room to hear music and try to ignore them but their voice was louder than my speakers. So i decided to leave the house and guess what? My parents didn't know until the next two hours.I left my house in tears, I hate seeing my parents argue everyday. When my parents found out I left they called me and yelled at me to come back home because it was too late for me to be walking around by myself at night. I always tell my parents to try for their kids maybe that's why their still together. I'm tired of trying to get my whole family eat together as a family but it didn't work. that day I ate by myself. until this day now, I still eat by myself. When I go to my boyfriends house and eat with his family makes me think about how my family doesn't even eat together. I actually love that feeling of eating together even though  their not my real family.

A Secret Lie!

People sometimes say to be careful with your enemies when in reality your suppose close friends are the ones you have to be careful with the most.It was October 31 when Melissa had asked her mother Rebecca if she could go out with her friends to a party at 2520 West Division Street. Since her mother trusted her, she gave Melissa permission to go to the party with her boyfriend and friends. 9 p.m. Melissa started getting ready for the party. She took a shower did her make up/ hair, and put on her costume which was cat-woman and her boyfriend was batman. It was a costume party that they were going to so of course Melissa and all her friends dressed up as something or someone. It was 9:40 when Melissa's boyfriend had arrived to the house. "Bye ma I love you" Melissa said to her mother "Bye mija have fun and be careful." Melissa and her boyfriend were on their way to the party and that's where they met up with everybody else. Once they walked in the party had just started, Melissa and all her friends started dancing an having a great time. While Melissa is dancing with her friends her boyfriend came up to her and said "Hey babe i'll be right back" "Where are you going?" " I'm going to go to the store to get some Hennessy with the guys" "Alright babe just be careful." Melissa's boyfriend Josh had left to the store with the rest of the guys to get the drinks, they weren't gone for too long in 15 minutes they were already back. When they came back the party had gotten even better everyone was drinking, taking body and jello shots they also played beer pong. After getting drunk everyone went back to dancing and having one wild night. After a while someone noticed that they were all out of drinks so Josh and the guys went back to the liquor  store to get everybody some drinks and like before they only took 15 minutes but when they got back to the house Josh noticed that something was going on with Melissa's friends so he went to ask. "Hey do you know where Melissa is at"? Josh ask's Tiffany which is Melissa's friend "I thought she was with you" "No I just got here" "What!!!" "Why what happened"?  "Melissa left with someone else then!" "What are you talking about"? "Let's go i'll explain on the way we have to go get her". Tiffany and Josh were on their way to go get  Melissa "Now can I know what happened to my girl"? Josh ask's Tiffany "What had happened was that someone came dressed like you wearing a Batman costume, and she thought it was you. The guy had told her that he had a surprise for her, he said that he was going to take her to a fancy buffet and then made reservations at a nice hotel in Down Town. Little did I know they were already gone." Josh was very upset and scared, he was afraid that anything would happen to Melissa. "Do you know the address of the place they were going to be at"? "Yeah it's 160 E. Pearson St. I just don't know where they were going to eat at." Josh rushed  to the place and once he got there he asked if anyone with the name of Melissa Munoz had signed in, what he found weird was that the guy that worked there told him that no one by the name of Melissa Munoz had signed in or registered. Tiffany tells Josh "Maybe the registered by the guys name" "Yeah it could be" "We should get a room and wait here till we find out when and who she comes with." Josh wasn't so sure about getting the room for both of them but since it was already late he booked the room. Little did he know she was setting him up. Since he was so stressed she offered to get him some water which he said the he would like some, when Tiffany got the water she put a few drops in his drink that would make him fall asleep. He drank it like nothing and in a few minutes he fell asleep. Once he fell asleep Tiffany took advantage and did some stuff she wasn't supposed to do, besides that she also had taken some pictures. The next morning he woke up and the first thing he did was check if she had signed in or if anyone had seen her, but once again the guy that works there had told him that no one by the name of Melissa Munoz had signed in. Josh went back to the room really afraid and upset "What happened"? asked Tiffany "The guy who works here told me the some thing he said last night he didn't see anyone that looked like her". Since Tiffany seen that he was very upset and concerned she thought it was the right moment to tell him the truth. "Look Josh I have to tell you something" "What is it"? "Melissa never left with anyone she was at the party, the reason why you didn't see her was because she had gone to the little store at the corner to get some munchies" "What! How could you do this to me, to her she's your best friend. Why did you do this in the first place, why would you even lie about something so serious"? "Josh I did it for us" "What do you mean for us, there is nothing going on between you and me Tiffany." "I've been liking you way before you and Melissa started dating and you never payed attention to me it was always her. I just wanted to have you for at least one night." "Tiffany your sick, what's Melissa going to think of me now. You have to understand Tiffany I love Melissa with all me heart we have been together for 3 years and you think I'm going to let that go for some one I don't even have feelings for, you were supposed to be my best friend and Melissa's close friend you guys were like sister's and you blew it off for one night that wasn't even worth nothing." "Josh last night was worth everything for me" "You are crazy nothing happened between us"! "Yes a lot happened last night and I have proof" "Let me see the pictures." Tiffany showed Josh the pictures and threatened him that if he went back with Melissa she would mail those pictures to her, but Josh didn't care he went to look for Melissa and told her everything that happened. When Melissa found out everything she believed what Josh told her, she stopped talking to Tiffany and Josh and her lasted for the rest of their life's. They ended up getting married together and moving away to Hawaii to live happily ever after.

A Terrible Life for All Eternity
People say they wish they were me but it sucks to be me, especially if people hate you or fear you. I guess you can say people want to be me because they thinks it's cool, but what's so amazing about being pale or drinking blood or not being able to see your own reflection. I've been around since the 17th century, and the first century wasn't bad, but then it got boring and depressing. It sucks because even though I'm 23 forever, it's not as fun as you think it is.
I got bit by my ex boyfriend because I wanted to be like him. Everything was perfect between us it was a dream type of relationship. We did everything together nothing was wrong with our relationship. It was sad when died I cried for months, the villagers had killed him, they put a stake to his heart.
Life really does suck for me. I've always wanted children but I wouldn't want them to be like me. I've been in so many relationships and I still can't find the one. Then when I tell them I'm  a vampire they freak out so I have to kill them. It sucks but I don't want my secret out I don't know what would happen if someone knew.
All I want to do is find the one and when that day comes, it'll be the best day of my life.
Tonight I'm going to a party with a few of my "friend's". It's a Halloween party so I blend in perfectly. No need for makeup or fake fangs, this is the only night I can actually be myself. I can't wait.
We arrived at the party already to dance and have a good time. I love having contest with people at parties because I always win. Especially when it comes to shots, no one can beat me.
I decided to dance for a bit with Roxanne and Ally. After awhile someone bumped into me and I fell. This person helped me up.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you fall."
"Its fine, I'm okay."
He took me to sit down.
"Here's some ice." He put it   on my forehead. I looked up at him.  He was gorgeous.
"Thanks I appreciate it." I could barely speak. He had the most amazing eyes, hazel.
"Are you sure you're okay?" He looked so concerned.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"I'm going to stay with you until the swelling goes down."
"No, I'm fine, I don't need a babysitter." He chuckled.
"I'm not going to babysit you, I just wana make sure you're okay that's all. Its not like I'm trying to kill you."
We both laughed. "Okay. Thank you." I couldn't help but just stare at him, he was perfect.
That night he drove me home. We talked up a storm, he even asked for my number. Of course I gave it to him. He dropped me off and said goodnight. I never thought I could get this happy in one night.
Later that week I got a call from him around 3 in the afternoon asking if I wanted to go out with him. Obviously I said yes, I really wanted to get to know him and see where things go.
He picked me on a Friday night around 8, we went out to a restaurant for a bit. Nothing big just more of a hang out restaurant.
"I'm not scared of you Sophia."
"What do you mean?" my body froze.
"I know what you are Sophie."
I started to get worried. "What do you mean?" I repeated.
"You're a vampire."
"No I'm not. What makes you think that?" I said with a little laugh so he wouldn't suspect anything.
"Sophie don't hide it I know you're are a vampire because...." he paused.
"Because?" he couldn't speak anymore. "Tell me Josh."
"Because I'm one to. That's how I know you're a vampire Sophie."  he looked relieved.
"Why didn't you tell me at the party?"
"Because I wanted to make sure. I'm happy you're a vampire because now I won't be so lonely... I hope you're not mad because I really like you I'd like to hang out more it was fun today." he looked down. I lifted his head.
"I like you too." I have him a hug. I finally found someone that understands me, I was relieved.

Its been about 3 years since we've been together now and we're as happy as can be. We always talk about how we're tired of living forever, and how we just need to accept the fact that we are vampires. We still haven't said I love you too each other because we don't really think it's love just a strong friendship. We can say we're together, we are a couple, and we do know we belong together. I can also say we belong together forever.
